Less than 24-hours after the House voted to hold disgraced Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner in contempt of Congress, the agency agreed to turn over all of Lerner’s e-mail and correspondence to a House panel investigating its targeting of conservative non-profit groups.
“While it is good that we are finally getting these emails, it should never have taken this long,” Ways and Means Committee chairman Dave Camp said in a statement, arguing that the e-mails are critical to his investigation. “The Committee will thoroughly review the Lerner documents and follow them wherever they may lead,” he said.
Republican lawmakers have been demanding the documents for months and, in March, Oversight Committee chairman Darrell Issa threatened to hold IRS commissioner John Koskinen in contempt if he did not produce the e-mails requested by the committee. Koskinen had told lawmakers it might take years to produce them.
The Republican-led House voted on Wednesday evening by a 231-178 margin to issue Lerner, the former director of the IRS’ exempt organizations division, in contempt for her refusal to testify before the Oversight Committee about her knowledge of targeting scandal.
Highly risky business turning over less than the whole lot. You don’t just have to avoid the mail itself, you have to scrub the logs as well. They subpoena the logs, find a record of a single piece that wasn’t turned over, and the administration’s defense case collapses.
There is no excuse for any Government agency ignoring one of these requests.
Maybe there should be a law that gives Congress direct and unfettered access to ALL government email accounts at all moments (outside of specific CIA/FBI secret information).
If some Fed goon is writing an email that they wouldn’t want Congress to read then maybe they shouldn’t be doing it.
Basically, I’m saying that the Feds should live to the same standards that we do.

Government rules are different than corporate.
So, why now.?
Does the current presider fear being charged with contempt for continuing the obfuscation and failure to comply with congress’s requests for all records?
Or, has the WH signaled him to now cooperate?
If so, will this contest eventually die in the hands of the Justice Department, under Holder, who is bent on ignoring law and inflicting selective enforcement, based on benefit or injury to this administration?
I wonder if that includes her secret official account, her OTHER secret official account, or her secret unofficial account.

This is why federal officials were using email accounts for fake employees and personal email accounts for sensitive and controversial stuff. They can turn over her official emails, but it won’t include the direct orders to go after conservatives that came from her yahoo account or the account in the name of a fake intern.
They have to do this, in order to protect Important National Security/Homeland Security Business.
To complain about this or even draw attention to it is inherently, in itself, unpatriotic.
