How Hawaii (Legally) Discriminates Against Non-Native Hawaiians
The Foundry ^ | May 7, 2014 | Hans von Spakovsky

Some senators are trying to push through a bill that would re-authorize the discriminatory housing policies implemented in Hawaii by the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands, which provides special benefits for “Native Hawaiians.” Native Hawaiians are defined as “any descendant of not less than one-half part of the blood of the races inhabiting the Hawaiian Islands previous to 1778.” According to the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands’ website, this means “you must have a blood quantum of at least 50 percent Hawaiian.” S.1352 has a seemingly innocuous provision, Section 503, which simply re-authorizes the Native Hawaiian Home-Ownership Act through 2018. You have to dig into the existing federal law to find out that, under 25 U.S.C. §4223(d), Hawaii is exempt from the nondiscrimination requirements of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Fair Housing Act when it is distributing federal housing funds made available by the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to “Native Hawaiians” or “a Native Hawaiian family.” This exemption means the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands can discriminate in favor of “Native Hawaiians” and a “Native Hawaiian family” and against others such as whites, blacks, Hispanics and Asians. In other words, the federal government is authorizing Hawaii (and providing it with taxpayer funds) to engage in blatant discrimination by providing government benefits for some of its residents and denying federally funded benefits to others based solely on their ancestry and “blood quantum.”

I worked for an Hawaiian company back in the mid-90’s but lived in Colorado. I would go to corporate for 2-3 days every 4-6 weeks.

What did I walk away from the experience with? That your average Hawaiian (not Hawaiian residents of other races and cultures)is a racist a$$hole.

I can’t imagine actually living among them.

Hawaii also has a state sponsored private school for Hawaiians only.

In an inversion the legal system is now discriminating against the once dominant society. I call this evidence of the ongoing Third World conquest of Western Civilization. The West is under attack at all levels: legal, religious, cultural, political, economic and social. So far, since there has been no effective resistance no shots have been fired.

There are supposed to be special clauses in the deal where they became an American territory for many of these practices. No one made the US sign it.

They aren’t all that. I’ve been there and I saw no evidence of a great civilization; and, the women were all very pretty, until they got old and fat, like, 19 years old or so.

“any descendant of not less than one-half part of the blood of the races inhabiting..."

Any such law is nazi-like on the face of it and has no place in the United States. This nation is supposed to be colorblind, but we have nuremburg race-laws right here, I don't care if it's a blue-eyed Aryan or a bronze polynesian islander.

I recently re-read James Michener’s book on the Caribbean, near the end there was a chapter that mostly took place in London about people who had “even one drop” of “black” blood. Several famous people from that era turned out to be major racists by anyone’s standards. This story kind of reminds me of that in an off way.

What do you mean state sponsored?

It is a private school, funded with a huge trust from Kamehameha’s lands.

Living there much of the time I can say it is a rather racist island. I have a black friend there from Oakland who says he’s never seen such a racist group of people. Of course not everyone on island is racist. The “natives” don’t like anyone.

I’ve known a number of former residents of Hawaii pretty well and after listening to their stories have concluded that the racist arsehole Hawaiian doesn’t have to be a real Hawaiian. Just not white.
