Skip to comments.Brent Budowsky: Hillary Clinton can win 45 states
Posted on 05/08/2014 6:53:14 PM PDT by SeekAndFind
The GOPs Benghazi disease has metastasized into yet another committee in the Republican House of Inquisitions, seeking to waste taxpayer money in yet another failed effort to exploit the death of Americans and prosecute yet another witch hunt against Hillary Clinton.
Clinton has answered. In her most important and profound speech since leaving the State Department, Clinton touted the benefits of ObamaCare and warned about the culture of gun violence that has killed far too many of Americas children. Speaking to the National Council for Behavioral Health, she called for redoubled efforts to redress economic inequality and a return to a society in which Americans care about one another, in an economy with rising tides that lift all boats. The battle is joined. The GOP addresses its partisan and extreme right-wing base with a venom toward others that mocks the legacies of Abe Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan. Clinton addresses the nation as a whole in tones reminiscent of Pope Francis, calling for a nation where no girls or boys have shorter life expectancies than their moms or dads. She champions an economy where aspirations grow higher while the number of jobless falls lower. She stands for politics where data and facts replace delusion and deceit. She proposes a discourse where mutual respect replaces the negativity and hatred that are trademarks of the modern Republican Party.
While the GOP looks downward and backward in its negative politics of derision, aiming its appeal to an extremist faction, Clinton reaches outward and forward in her positive politics of opportunity, aiming her appeal to the nation at large. If she runs in 2016, she could well carry 45 states and sweep into office many Democrats running for the House, Senate and governorships.
Ignore the vast wasteland of political reporting about a potential Clinton candidacy, such as the idiot punditry about Monica Lewinsky and the irrelevant bromides about who is allegedly up or down on Planet Hillary. Consider carefully, instead, what Clinton is saying this week.
Benghazi? We do not have enough fingers on our hand to count the House Republican committees that have investigated Benghazi.
But even after all of these sham public relations operations sandwiched between long House Republican recesses and vacations potential 2016 GOP candidates cannot see the color of Clintons pantsuit because she is running so far ahead of them.
ObamaCare? Clinton understands that by November 2016 there will be 12 million people, or perhaps 15 million or more, signed up along with children covered under a parents policy.
The Republican nightmare is Clinton in 2016 accusing the party that wants to cut Social Security and Medicare of trying to force 12-15 million consumers to give up healthcare plans they purchased, trying to strip people with preexisting conditions of the insurance ObamaCare provided, and telling millions of parents that their kids lose the insurance that ObamaCare gave them.
Medicaid? Let right-wing Republicans tell voters why they hurt their state budgets and poor folks by refusing to accept federal Medicaid money.
War against women? Let Republicans tell voters why Clinton is wrong about pay equity, better child care, paid parental leave and more help for poor women who deserve better than hungry children and premature death.
Jobs? Minimum wage? Income inequality? The GOP is busy creating jobs for GOP hacks working for partisan committees investigating Benghazi ad nauseam and for GOP flacks writing press releases advocating the repeal ObamaCare health plans consumers want. Meanwhile, Clinton is envisioning an America where parents dont have to worry about their children being gunned down in school, workers dont have to worry about being left behind in an economy without jobs, politics is not poisoned by hatred, and our social fabric is not torn apart by economic inequality and social injustice.
This week, Americans heard Republicans talk about Benghazi while Clinton talked about them. Upon such things historic landslides and realignments are born. Republicans, consider yourselves warned.

I suggest looking at the voting machines in those states. We are using the same voting machines as Venezuela
Over 40k voters registered in Virginia and Maryland
Obama outsourced the 2012 vote counting to foreign company tied to Soros.
Smartmatic: All things connected
Most of them are in Africa and South America.
If we pick Cruz or Paul, the author may be right......Good God, we may have a repeat of 1984 but this time it is the Democrats who get 49 states. Walker/Pence or Walker/Palin or Pence/Palin or Palin/Walker or Palin/Pence. Anything else is unacceptable and will be a LOSING TICKET!!!!!
The Democrat “Blue Wall” is 251 evs - without spending a penny.
All they have to do is win either Ohio or Florida.
How hard can that be when you spend a billion?
So, why did The Hill post a high school freshman’s mid-term paper?
No Palin. Save her for EPA or Secretary of the interior.
Hillary will stash her away in a jar.
So Cruz and Paul are not electable to the White House in 2016, but Palin would be?
And you don’t like Ted Cruz for what reason? Have you ever read any of his biographies on the Internet? He is so head and shoulders above Obama, Hillary, Biden and Fauxcohantas that it isn’t even funny!
Hillary is electable?
She has all the negatives of Obama without his charm and she has no record to run on in 2016.
The notion she can win 45 states is hot air. And she will not want to be the Third Obama term.
Exactly what I was thinking.
she’s got until next year to decide if she’d rather just be ‘grammy’.
This guy gives the word “delusional” an all-new meaning.
As in nuts and delusional. lol
I highly doubt she’ll win 45 states. I don’t see any of Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Alaska, Texas or the southern states going for her. She’ll probably win about 30-35... More than enough for an easy win, but 45? No friggin’ way.
This is the guy who favorably compared Kerry to Churchill? Now Hillary wins in a 45 state landslide.
We know Cruz is head and shoulders above those schlubs, but the electorate at large, after years of relentless propaganda by the “media,” is locked on the idea Hillary is the second “Second Coming.”
Hillary Benghazi Manpads Clinton.
Too bad for her most of them are in the mideast and full of muslim terrorists.
Last time she lost the nomination to the first black socialist; maybe this time she will lose it to a real woman.
Tell me more about the manpads.
And I can win the lottery, but I’m pretty sure I won’t.
The fat cankled lesbo doormat is going nowhere.
Ok. Try it. I think we will fail huge.
I have not read anything, but I have observed him from January 2013 to today and noticed he has not accomplished a thing. Although he did a filibuster, it accomplished nothing. He is our Wendy Davis who Democrats think should be rewarded for filibustering a night. Good God if that is what we call impressive today, we are done for. Cruz should accomplish some things in the Senate at least.
So Cruz and Paul are not electable to the White House in 2016, but Palin would be?
At least she has executive experience. Those two guys are legislators and not very accomplished ones at that.
Include MO in the No-F’ing-Way category. The “urban vote” won’t come out for an old white woman no matter how much walking around money is spent.
The dumping on Cruz has already begun. I’m with Cruz all the way.
“He is our Wendy Davis”
Beyond stupid. Cruz has done more for the conservative movement than any figure in the last 15 years.
So you still haven’t read his bio? He has already accomplished more than Mr. Obama, Mrs. Clinton and half a dozen other democrats. Did you know that he is the reason we didn’t have a “President Gore” in 2001?
I guess I’m totally out of touch. I always thought Cruz was the ONLY person who could beat Hillary. Why is he so objectionable? The only people who don’t like him are the GOP establishment and of course liberals.
Uh oh. Now you've done it.
Here’s my proposal...
Those in the lesser 49 states select their sacrificial lamb to Hillary. Pence, Walker, Hucksterbee, Jindal, Christie, or Jeb. Give them your pragmatic lesser-of-evils love.
Texas will select Cruz as first president of its next republic.
It goes to show you just how low the average I.Q. is in this country these days. Hillary couldn’t find her ass with both hands and the low information types want her to be president. Geeesh! Morons galore!
Waste taxpayers money?
Has this guy been drinking all day?
He’s not correct.
You have lived in Maryland too long. You have lost sight of what a true conservative is.
I stand with Ted....as do many on FR
I’m going to listen to Pence and Walker, who have smartly kept their head down, their mouth shut and not been flame throwers, leaving them looking competent in work performance and in very good shape to step up if they dare.
I think anyone struggles in a general election against Hillary’s machine. Not Hillary so much, but her cash heavy, cut throat machine may be good for 7 points, maybe more.
Except against.... Jeb Bush, maybe. (Money & Machine)
But since they both are globalists (think Common Core) and wish to turn us into Mexico, “WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE”?
In such a case, the smartest WOMAN in the world wins. Right?
I agree we can not count on a responsible electorate any more.
In fact, we can count on an electorate now shaped to reject our Constitution and American tradition.
Heck, Obama is nearly at 45% on RCP poll averages.
Americans are now outnumbered at the polls by low information freeloaders whose only issue is “more free stuff.”
I don’t think Hillary’s “time for a woman” appeal is as strong as Obama’s “time for a black” was. Part of the reason is she has so much nasty baggage!
I agree. Sarah has and continues to prove her worth. She need not drag herself through the mud again. Wait till a Republican is in office, then appoint her to serve. Let the Palins enjoy some of what they’veearned.
Oh heck, yes. ZZZactly. I can’t get a read on voters in this country at all. I mean Obama at 45% is stunning.
So, if he can be at “45”, what pray tell, stops Hillary from hanging in there for at least 51%, for the win as “the first woman” prez?
This electorate wants to make class, gender statements, far more than repair the damage to the country.
seeking to waste taxpayer money in yet another failed effort to exploit the death of Americans and prosecute yet another witch hunt against Hillary Clinton.
I have ead many ignorant and hateful statements from liberals. This one is very near the top. Getting to a reasonable explanation as to why 4 Americans were killed and our Government did NOTHING and then lied about it is not possibly a waste of tax dollars. You can not put a price tag on truth and justice.
I doubt Hillary will even run. IMO we will see Andrew Cuomo as the Dem nominee for President in 2016.
