(CNSNews.com) - As job growth lags in the sluggish economic recovery, the Obama White House is pointing to climate change policies as a fix:
Efforts to reduce carbon pollution, far from costing jobs, will create them, a White House spokesman told reporters on Wednesday:
"Retrofitting buildings and modernizing them is one way to create jobs," Josh Earnest said. "It saves companies money in terms of their energy costs, but it also creates jobs in terms of people who are installing updated lighting, modern heating and cooling systems, and other things that make buildings more efficient."
Earnest noted that President Obama has boosted efficiency standards for the manufacture of appliances and vehicles. "All of that saves consumers money in terms of energy costs, but it also creates good manufacturing jobs here in this country," he said.
President Obama on Friday will talk about making buildings more energy efficient as one way of reducing carbon pollution.
"This is a leading trend that we're going to see all across the world that other countries and other markets are going to turn to more energy-efficient products to try to deal with carbon pollution," Earnest said.

C’mon, Obama...regulate our way to prosperity. Decree the minimum wage to be $100/hour. Decree all cars should get 150 mpg, coal is banned, sea levels to recede and passenger jets to fly at Mach 3. Think of all the scientists and engineers who will be employed achieving these dreams.

It betrays a concept of "work" held by people who have themselves never worked.
And, indeed, most liberals have never "worked". They have "taught", they have "consulted", they have "networked". But they've never dug a ditch, built a building, started a business, sold anything (outside a garage sale, perhaps), met a payroll, completed a project or, to tell the truth, accomplished much of anything.
"Work" is something they see depicted on thirties-era Communist posters.
Quite apart from the “refurbishing buildings” notion being little more than another implementation of the “broken window” fallacy, and apart also from the fact that there is already a HUGE inventory of vacant, highly modernized, office space, there’s also this:
The “refurbishment” would almost certainly be to turn these buildings into LEEDS structures. Just how many of the “jobs” in this program are going to be filled by people who actually know how to do LEEDS-quality work? LEEDS buildings are not simple structures. They’re a system of highly-engineered, high-tech components that all have to work together. Much like modern houses use all kinds of advanced materials that have to be installed correctly in order to function as designed, anyone doing work on a LEEDS building will have to be trained in handling the various components, or all the effort will be wasted.
And then, even *if* the program goes forward, you end up with a bunch of empty LEEDS buildings, which *have* to be constantly maintained or the systems will break down. Who’s going to pay for that?
WH could care less that retrofitting almost always does not really create wealth as much as simply transfer it from elsewhere.
All the WH cares about is that this is simply one more way to front money to Obama supporters just like the Portland ACORN affiliate that received many millions of Stimulus dollars to ultimately retrofit energy saving flashing and window stripping to a half a dozen homes.
Millions of bucks were either wasted or simply evaporated into thin air with no accounting.
In other words, programs like building retrofits are simply a license to steal taxpayer money for Obama cronies
Which was still a better deal than the the BILLIONS of dollars that were allocated to to fictitious and and totally non existent congressional districts and where the money simply disappeared without a trace.
Kinda like the way 6 BILLION dollars similarly disappeared with out a trace at the Dept of State under Hillary.
Democrats are not good at accounting and accountability.
Obama probably thinks that smashing the windows in homes also creates jobs and wealth - after all, someone has to replace the broken glass.

Gas station attendants
Traffic directing police (after turning off traffic lights to save energy).
Pogo stick manufacturing (after outlawing cars), which of course leads to buggy whip manufacturing job (except NYC).
