Benghazi hearing puts Democrats in a tough spot
Yahoo News ^ | 9 May 2014 | Chris Moody

House Democratic leaders have been unstinting in their criticism of the select committee established this week to investigate the aftermath of the 2012 attack on an American compound in Benghazi, Libya. Now they are facing a touch choice about whether to join it, cautiously weighing which strategy would be riskier politically and whether their instinct to boycott the select committee might just give it more power in the end.

Democratic leaders have called the new committee “a political ploy,” a “stunt,” a “sham,” a “waste of taxpayer dollars” and, in the words of White House spokesman Jay Carney, “a blatantly political and partisan effort.” This week, two arms of the party, the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, launched a coordinated messaging blitz to undermine the committee and cast Republicans as political opportunists who have established the select committee only because of their interest in raising money and exciting the GOP base before the 2014 midterm elections.

Should Democrats now take part in this thing they view as a nonserious exercise in pandering to the right? House Democrats met behind closed doors Friday morning to discuss their options, but emerged with no clear answer on how to proceed.

In the case of reopening an investigation into the events of Sept. 11, 2012, in Libya, Democrats are stuck in a damned-if-they-do, damned-if-they-don’t scenario. That’s left the caucus torn on what to do.

There’s a vocal chorus of Democrats urging Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi to boycott the committee altogether. Appointing members to the committee would lend credibility to the investigation, they fear, and it would force Democrats to risk being pawns in a Republican political game.

The biggest fear the DemocRATS have is that this scandal will not only damage the party, but will sink Hillary as their presidential nominee.

If this were a Republican administration and Sarah Palin had been involved instead of Hillary Clinton, the press would be singing a vastly different tune. That is why we can’t trust the mainstream press.

...What does anyone think the media would not keep polishing Miss Hillary's image.... phooey.

If the lady in the blue dress sucked, the media is a full-on vacuum-truck keeping dirt of the old commodities trader (Hillary). In fact, a vacuum-truck worthy of the Halliburton brand label.

There’s no way in Hell the Democrats will boycott the Committee and miss the chance to get their comments and their outrage played on a loop on the evening and morning news.

Most news viewers won’t hear a peep about any of the legitimate questions and answers

Obama surrendered to Al Qaeda at Benghazi. Part of the deal was to provide armored vehicles, weapons and night vision equipment to Al Qaeda. That is aiding and abetting the enemies of The United States. It is the very definition of treason.

Does anyone think Al Qaeda turned over the bodies of the dead Americans and let those 31 CIA employees go because they are just nice guys? Nope. They traded with Obama. And Obama, by trading with them, committed treason. That’s why the Democrats are behaving this way. A Democrat President convicted of treason? Ouch!

And we haven’t even begun to look at why Hillary and Obama inserted the US into overthrowing the government of Libya.

What if the committee discovers that Hillary had set Ambassador Stevens up to be kidnapped, and the plot went awry? Why haven’t the perps been apprehended? WERE THEY PART OF THE PLOT, and is this perhaps why they haven’t been apprehended?

“A waste of taxpayer dollars”, unlike the $555 million Obungo wasted on Solyndra.

I don’t doubt one thing you just posted. But, what’s even scarier is how many people are involved. He didn’t do it by himself.

Eventually, the Democrats are going to come out with the “YEAH WE BROKE THE LAW AND GOT AMERICANS MURDERED BUT WE REALLY MEANT WELL” defense. Guilty people try that defense a lot.
The key is for the Democrats to come clean about everything. The truth will literally set SOME of them free.

This is a superb opportunity for Republicans. They should go to lengths to encourage the Democrats to stay out of it.

Harry Reid insisted on unilateral control of the senate.

Obama insisted on unilateral control by executive order.

So now the Republicans can give the Democrats a taste of what unilateral control means.

They should hold incredibly hostile hearings, with no opportunity for Democrat rebuttal. They should also go to lengths to damn Democrats up one side and down the other, and to provide as much media support to the conservative media as they can.

The hearings should last all the way to election day, and bring forth testimony from every irate former government employee they can find. There should be lots of veterans testifying, along with anyone and everyone who can tear a hole in the Democrats, Obama and Hillary in particular.

The Dems also acted quite immaturely during the Clinton impeachment hearings, if memory serves. They huddled up and broke out of it like a football team then walked out.

They're all little more than spoiled adolescent brats.

Yup.

BTW, the mantra of the Cult of Obamanation is as follows:

LIE, DENY AND REFUSE TO COMPLY.

IMHO, that is exactly what errant 2 year olds do.

BTW, BTW, why do these Libs call themselves “progressives” when their work ethic and public behavior is definitely Regressive?

Don't you think that there is a large enough population of LIV in this nation that will agree with Hitlery when she spews "What difference does it make at this point??"

These are the very segment of the population that despise and hate Repubs and will quickly buy into Obie's propaganda that the GOP is just out to get him because he is not white.

You watch how this unravels. The RATS have the upper hand with 1)LYING AND COVERING UP, and 2)the MEDIA THAT MOST OF AMERICA GETS THEIR NEWS FROM will put on a performance only Joseph Goebbels and Leni Riefenstahl could be jealous of.

Don't get me wrong I like Gowdy and think he is a great prosecuter, but I just don't think the GOP en masse is up to the task of taking on the lying cheating RAT party - they do not know how to play dirty like the RATs do.
