That's actually a sharp insight. "People who believe government doesn't work" figure that they'd better plan on taking care of themselves (and their families and neighbors), and the next thing you know, they're "empowered" to do things like pursue useful education, work hard, save, act responsibly, etc.

I disagree. While he would undoubtedly be considered incompetent for a number of tasks he doesn’t value, he’s been extraordinarily able as far as his goals and ambitions are concerned.
Letting him off the hook with the label of incompetent is the RINO’s way.
To me, the political monolicity of the various subcultures in what is termed the black community does not compute.
The number of rational souls is about 5% leaving 95% irrationality.
Given that say half of the black people don’t vote anyway, that seems to mean that the very people to whom the message is directed never vote anyway.
With a few notable exceptions in the HOR and two or so in the US Senate, that's an oxymoron.
Romney could've done it if he didn't shy away from the fragile communities that are worse off since Obama took office. The message that would do it is one of US jobs for US citizens and making it much easier to be self-employed, or start and grow a small business. He should've brought Ann with him to some minority schools to talk about making neighborhoods safer and family values.
Would everyone be won over by the 'pubs taking that direction? Of course not. But it's a message that would get a pretty healthy percentage of blacks and hispanics to go along with.

His defining personal characteristic is incompetence, combined with a self-centeredness that prevents him from seeing past his own navel.
Although it is one of his characteristics, it's not the one that defines him.
What defines him is his hatred of American principles and much of the good that once came from those principles. He is not simply a lesser evil, he stands for a far greater evil than any of us has known.
