Storm clouds brewed outside the Mermaid event center in Mounds View Thursday night while inside Republican Senate candidate Mike McFadden endured a storm of his own.
McFadden, considered a front runner in the GOP contest to vie against Democratic U.S. Sen. Al Franken, did not begin his appearance as a favorite. The leaders of the North Metro Tea Party had previously said unkind things about McFadden, including that he had dodged their group and calling him a phony.

I do not profess to know anything about Mike McFadden or the who’s who in Minnesota politics, but I do know one thing, HE AIN’T AL FRANKEN.

Al Franken was never funny until he became a US Senator.

Franken “won” 6 years ago by 300 votes in a recount over “rino” Norm Coleman after they found a few boxes of uncounted ballots in the trunk of someone’s car.
The right candidate for Minnesota can easily beat Franken.
Right now Franken and McFadden poll 42-42.
Usually a bad sign for the incumbent with more name ID to polling at 42.

I prefer to say that Coleman did not win by a big enough margin to overcome the inevitable democrat voter fraud.
And every republican knows they need to win by at least 1% and 2% is even better.
Here’s a surefire formula for winning. Ignore the fact that Franken isn’t qualified to pick up roadkill and attack any Republican in sight. If your candidate isn’t nominated, hold your breath until you turn blue and then sit out the election./sarc off
You might point out to them that it appears they did just that.
I have lived in Minnesota my entire life. Yes, there are idiots here who would vote for a Democrat over a Republican, only because that is the way they have always voted. But, those folks are dying off.
I have an elderly couple in my neighborhood who are daily church goers. They proclaim that they have never voted for a Republican and never will. Instead, they go and vote for Democrats who hate Christians, hate Catholic Christians especially, and who are destroying our wonderful country.
Unfortunately, this type of person is not exclusive to Minnesota. Al Franken is very vulnerable, and it is the reason that I am supporting Mike McFadden. He is sufficiently Conservative, certainly more so than Sen. Norm Coleman, and has lots of energy and potential to be a successful fundraiser. We do have a group of good candidates for the GOP nomination for US Senate. I could easily vote for any one of them: McFadden, Chris Dahlberg or Julianne Ortmann.
In MN, it is utter foolishness to wait for the coming of another Ronald Reagan. It is not going to happen. We need to rally behind whomever is nominated, and be assured that any one of them is heads above Al Franken.

You nailed it. I have relatives there as well, and who vote Rat for the same insane reasons—it would be evil to vote Republican (or at least not Democrat). As said to many time at this site, and is proven to be true repeatedly, it is a mental disease that we have little hope of curing. The only way to actually get these buffoons to consider voting away from the Rat party, is if some personal tragedy befalls them to the extent they open their minds to reality, and above selfishness.
I would give anything if the GOP was as politically savvy as the DemocRATS. They’re street wise and the GOP is naive.
