A year after it began, the IRS targeting controversy has been overtaken by the Benghazi attacks on the oversight agenda of House Republicans.
While Republicans are convinced that the Obama administration is stonewalling them on both matters, Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and the House GOP have only set up a special committee for Benghazi.
On the IRS, House Republicans have instead pushed the Justice Department to more aggressively pursue its investigation, and this week pushed Attorney General Eric Holder to appoint a special prosecutor.
There are a variety of reasons for the emphasis on Benghazi, including the chance to further examine further Secretary of State Hillary Clintons record before a potential 2016 race.

Besides Clinton, House Republicans say that there are logistical reasons to opt for a special committee on Benghazi a panel, they note, that Boehner had been resisting for months.

They can’t do both? Unless this is only about publicity. The press will only publicize one at a time, maybe.
Which is worse- setting up a US ambassador in an arms smuggling screwup, or using a government agency to throw an election?
Why not combine the investigations under Gowdy? This administration is permeated by corruption, and Benghazi and the IRS scandals are only symptoms.
I don’t believe that story for a minute. The Hill is a libtard site and they are just trying to stir up Benghazi vs. IRS and how foolish it is to pursue Benghazi.
And now we have the V.A. hospital scandals as well.
This whole damn government is corrupt from one end to the other.
As has been stated here before, I think the establishment Repuplicans don’t mind that the TEA parties were targeted, that’s why they are trying to ignore it.
In my opinion the IRS scandal is the more serious and chilling of all the scandals. It has the potential to put both IRS and White House staff in prison and offers an opportunity to reform the federal bureaucracy—a more dangerous enemy than those who carried out Benghazi.
Same as the resident GOp-ers’ arguments in 2008-2012:
“We should be concentrating on electing McCain/Romney. Let’s not waste time and resources showing Obama is a pure fraud.”
`The perfect is the enemy of the good. we’re conservatives, but compassionate. The tea party are cranks. Let’s move on.’ Immigrants are committing an act of love. Rinse & repeat.
And we’ll see the same things in the months ahead.
If the Boehners, McConnells & JEBs wanted to pursue the IRS and stop their on-going attacks on the GOP’s conservative base, they could. But they won’t.
Only constant pressure from us and the outrageous facts are causing them to move forward on the Benghazi debacle. Only constant pressure from us is preventing them from agreeing to `Allie allie in come free!’ for 20-30 million illegals, and practically every other issue important to the Jacka** party.
Donchaknow—we have to concentrate on foisting another Republicrat looser on non-Democrats, that is, red America.
Rant not over, just starting ...
