Liberal comedian Bill Maher has some remorse for one of his former punchlinesMonica Lewinskyafter reading her essay in Vanity Fair.
I was moved by it. I gotta tell you, I literally felt guilty, Maher said Friday on HBOs Real Time with Bill Maher.
Maher said he was moved after reading what Lewinsky described in the pages of the magazine as a time in which she was suicidal.
I remember doing a million Monica Lewinsky blow job jokes, and I kinda feel bad, the late-night host said. Maher said he understands why Lewinsky is coming out now after ten years of silence.
She says it out there, which is basically, Ive spent 20 years in infamous person prison, because what? I had an affair in my early 20s, Maher said, who noted other girls have an experimental phase with club bouncers or fraternity brothers. People have worse problems, but I am sympathetic to her, he said.
Not as sympathetic to the scandal was Arianna Huffington, a guest on Mahers show who said it is not a question sex, but of judgment.
Huffington said she knows 20 women in Washington who wouldve been happy to give Bill Clinton a blow job.
And wouldve kept their mouth shut afterwards
So why pick a 22-year-old intern? Huffington said

No, didn't say that nor imply it. Many many young women get caught up in the seduction of powerful men. She knew she was blowing a married man, but I believe she was naive enough to think that something would come of it (no pun intended).
Maybe she thought she would get a "position" in the WH or maybe Billy would be so enamored that he would leave his wife. Or maybe it was just the thrill of doing the President without regard to consequences. Yes, she was naive - Clinton wasn't. He was just a user.
Well I have no sympathy for her, she made her bed.
That’s the least he should be ashamed of.
But, of course, no guilt or sympathy from libtards like Maher for Bill Clinton’s long list of innocent victims, like Kathleen Willey.

Excerpt:
Ever wonder why Paula Jones’ lawyers were able to ask President Clinton about his sexual relations with other women? According to a new book [2000], Clinton himself is to blame.
In 1994 Clinton signed into law the Molinari amendments to the federal rules of evidence.
Named after Rep. Susan Molinari (R-N.Y.), the amendments permit the plaintiff in a sexual harassment suit to examine the defendant’s personal life in search of examples of similar behavior.
Under the prior, centuries-old common law, the defendant’s past behavior would have been deemed irrelevant. [snip]
Same policy as today. ‘Rat politicians were and still are exempt.
The main focus of the impeachment proceedings was Clinton’s perjury in his deposition in the Paula Jones sexual harassment suit. (The focus of the media coverage was obviously something else.)
She was a willing victim of Clinton's predatory conduct...unlike several of the other women whose identities became known during that period (Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey, Juanita Broaddrick, Elizabeth Ward [Miss America who was from Arkansas]).
Not guilty enough to kill himself.
How would we know to what degree Monica was naive? Impossible to know.
I choose another view that can’t be proven true, either.
At 22, I believe she thought she was “in love”, and I can only guess what he said to make her feel that way. Monica was very pretty, but not all that sophisticated, and immature.
But, nevertheless, she never deserved the ongoing public slander-stoning she got. Especialy over the trailer trash Clintons. I do hope she can make a living and be appreciated and respected as an adult at last.
As Bill Clinton's campaign began to gain momentum Estrich was contacted by "the team" (which probably meant Hillary) and she dropped her crusade. Much like with the nags at N.O.W., party loyalty trumped values, it seems.
My (whack-o) conspiracy theory is that Monica is on Hillary’s payroll now. IIRC, when Bubba was in the White Hut every time Hillary was perceived to be a victim her favorability numbers skyrocketed. Monica’s presence in the MSM will bring back the public’s “poor Hillary” memories, and she’ll be all popular again.
Close, but no cigar.
Hillary! has brought Monica out of mothballs. Now, Bill Maher is apologizing to Monica, to be followed by other comedians and columnists. Next, Bill will apologize to Hillary! in public. Hillary! and Bill will kiss. Hillary! and Huma will kiss. (Off-camera.)
No one will apologize to Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey, or Juanita Broaddrick.
To me, that statement raises a very serious question: What if, instead of sending her recorded Lewinsky conversations to Ken Starr, Linda Tripp had instead secretly offered them for sale, say, to the Chinese government? Or to the Russians? Or even to agents of Saddam?
What kind of blackmail leverage would those tapes have provided to a foreign government in dealing with America on sensitive trade, security or military issues? One of the few things Clinton ever said that I believe is that he would have done anything to keep the Lewinsky affair secret. Given his demonstrated track record of selling out American interests for personal or political gain, how far would he have gone in compromising Americas real interests in order to protect his own neck when threatened with blackmail?
Pretty far, I believe. Equally distressing is the prospect Clinton might, in fact, have succumbed to foreign black mail on other occasions in order to hide different sexual episodes that ultimately did not become public. There is no way to know, of course, but I prefer presidents for whom such a scenario is not a plausible possibility.
