Inside Putin's Campaign Of Social Media Trolling And Faked Ukrainian Crimes

Vladimir Putin uses an invisible army of social media propagandists, in addition to conventional media, to support his narrative of an out-of-control Ukraine, to spread fabrications of atrocities by Ukrainian extremists, and to unleash destabilizing rumors on east Ukraine. If Ukraine unmasks the myths of Russia’s disinformation war, Putin’s target audiences, at home and abroad, must eventually reject his whole narrative.

[....] This photo circulated unquestioned, until the KyivPost (See: Moscow journalist says there was no pregnant woman in Odessa Trade Unions Building) reported its debunking by a media reviewer from Moscow, Elena Rybkovtseva. In her investigation, Rybkovtseva began with the question of why there was still no information about the deceased pregnant woman, no mourning relatives, no distraught father-to-be, and no one in the receiving hospital remembering a pregnant victim. When Rybkovsteva showed the receiving doctor the photo, “he immediately said it was clearly an elderly woman who was photographed, for some reason, here in such a pose, likely in order to create the needed effect.” The physician called higher medical authorities, who confirmed there was no pregnant woman among the dead.

[....]

It should be noted that Mr. Putin, as a young KGB officer in Berlin, was not an intelligence agent but a disinformation specialist who ran informant networks. He is just putting what he learned in his younger days to use, only now as the head of a nation.

So, remind me when this “treaty” was ratified by the US Congress????

In America, only the CONGRESS can approve such Documents.

Everything Obama touches ends up in misery and conflict.
Why would anyone expect this to end any differently??

We can always recognize an Obama blogger squad poster in here. They're the ones who always seems to attack other posters in here rather than offering anything that resembles an original thought or fact.

Pretty much like the way you're doing.

Difference being, we recognize Obama blog posters and give them the same “treatment” as our resident Bolsheviks. But the Bolsheviks never seem to understand why, and complain that they are being mistreated (or change the subject to nazis).

Which one do you propose to induct into the Putin Propaganda Panderers, Pimps, & Punks Party (PPPPP)?

Daniel Hannan from just this morning.

Hannan gets it right.

He criticizes the EU's approach.

And he nails Putin...

“when was Ukraine offered membership in NATO?”

Never but any lie to push forward “they are evil but we are evil too” nonsense seems to be good enough for that crowd.

I don’t know what the heck Russia was thinking when they gave up Crimea in the first place. That’s like us giving up California. We would retake it at some point because we need the ports.

Just imagine how much more desperate we would be if that lost territory included America's ONE AND ONLY year-round warm water port. Thankfully we don't have that crippling weakness, but Russia does and that's why Sevastopol is so critically important to Russia.

NATO membership was not offered to Ukraine, nor Georgia... and waalaah the jack boot of Russia is in each.

NATO was not offered to Georgia and Ukraine for the sole reason that Russia preempted NATO's plans. After NATO added twelve new members allied against Russia, Moscow said enough and drew the line in Georgia in 2008. USMC units were holding joint exercises in Georgia in the the mid 2000s, and I wondered then how long Russia would tolerate our presence on their border; it wasn't long. Then when we aided the Maidan overthrow of the Ukrainian government this February, Russia wasted no time securing its bases in Crimea. Make no mistake, we fully intended to make full NATO members of both countries. That was absolute lunacy.
