Not jobs. Not the economy. Not rebuilding our aging infrastructure. Not gang violence, or education.
Climate change.
And he and his party ridiculed anyone who disagrees.
A couple of things about all of this smack the sensibilities of regular folks.
First, most people know Earth's climate always has changed; everyone knows about this little thing called the Ice Age. What most people don't care for is the issue being used politically to slice and dice the country, the same way the minimum wage, gender, race, immigration and religion have been used by this administration.
This is why folks do not look toward Washington, D.C., to solve problems anymore. This is why young people the Millennials are so turned off by the brands of both political parties, a one-time advantage that Democrats have completely squandered.
And this is why we have wave-election cycles.
Things such as subpar graduation rates in our inner-city schools, or the 90 million people who have left the nation's workforce in the past six years, or our economy being less entrepreneurial now than at any point in the last three decades or that a Brookings study showed, between 2009 and 2011, small businesses were collapsing faster than they were being formed.
A wave election is building beyond Washington not a tsunami, but a wave yet most experts don't see it because they define an electoral wave as a large flip to the party in power; Republicans already control the House and probably will add more seats to their list.
Those experts should review the results of November's races for state legislatures, governors' mansions and the U.S. Senate, and then rethink their definition of a wave.
And Democrats should rethink what really constitutes a pressing issue.

I thought they changed it to “climate disruption” now.
I think that's what's happening here.
Can’t they get Slick back to laying pipeline?
That’s like calling a solar flair a “solar disruption,” as if there were anything one could do to mitigate it.
In th 70s they squawked about global freezing. In the 80s Thatcher invented global warming to fight the coal unions and push for nuke power. Then the leftists realized global warming was truly a Ticket To Ride but whe the Hide The Decline movement failed they changes global warming to climate change, which failed to frighten and failed to BLAME, so now it’s climate disruption.
So how’s that working out for them?
Are we scared yet?
Another great article. Thank you Salena.
Climate 'change' is the only constant.
That's an almost stunning bit of news to me. Do you have any further information?
Aluminum foil hats all round...?
Thatcher invented global warming? Do you have a source for that?
“First, most people know Earth’s climate always has changed; everyone knows about this little thing called the Ice Age.”
They clearly don’t know very much about it. When the Indian plate collided with the Eurasian plate, a little thing called the Himalayas began to form. About 2.5 mya they had reached such a height as to create the Monsoons and the had become a giant carbon sink. The heavy rains falling on or before the mountains scrubbed CO2 from the atmosphere to the point where its concentration in the atmosphere was so low as to allow the Ice Ages. These ice ages have been the most disruptive and limiting factor for species survival and diversity seen in the last 65 million years.
Daniel Patrick Moynihan told Nixon that CO2 emissions should be tracked and that the earth temperature could increase by 7 F.
And here is another question to ponder - what is the long term and short term affect on weather from wind farms? They take energy from the wind, so 100 miles from the windfarm is getting less wind. What does that do to the environment, besides killing lots of birds?
I meant the bit about Thatcher.
The Dems and the MSM do their best to keep us living in a state of fear (citing the late great Michael Crichton’s book). It may have worked for Obama in 2012 - that and using the IRS to suppress conservative motivational efforts - but I don’t think anyone is buying this booschwa in 2014.
I exaggerate. But there is an historical connection and I do believe she was desperate to come up with something to use against the 1984 Miners strike.
Here’s a good analysis by the best commentator on GW on the planet, Delingpole himself:
Thanks, I can see why you referenced that.
You are welcome.
