US private soldiers fighting in Ukraine (Blackwater/Academi)

Soldiers from a private US security company with a record of alleged atrocities in Iraq are supporting Ukraine’s security forces in the volatile east of the country, the German newspaper Bild reported Sunday.

The report, citing Germany’s federal intelligence agency BND, said 400 of the heavily-armed men employed by the group formerly known as Blackwater were deployed in the vicinity of Lugansk where pro-Russian separatists are seeking self-rule.

The BND declined to comment on the report, while the security company -- now known as Academi -- dismissed similar reports in March.

Bild reported that according to a BND assessment, US intelligence services had knowledge of the covert involvement of the private soldiers in Ukraine. BND representatives relayed the information to Germany’s federal chancellory on April 29, Bild said.

Academi was known as Blackwater during its time as key security services contractor to the US government in the war it led to oust Iraq’s president Saddam Hussein in 2003.

It was later implicated in the killing of unarmed civilians and arms smuggling in Iraq.

The company, which was awarded a similar US government contract in Afghanistan, also provides security services to companies and other governments.

On May 2, Moscow accused the West of complicity in Ukraine’s military assault on separatists in Sloviansk and suggested US mercenaries were supporting the army.

Have no idea of this is true or not, but these reports are making their way in to "mainstream" news publications around the world.

There have been many reports and pics on twitter of "English Speaking" troops/guards in and around Kiev, and leading National Guard units in the field, but none have been verified as true.

Stasi agents (reactivated by KGB) in action.

Hello didn’t you read the article?

“Soldiers from a private US security company with a record of alleged atrocities in Iraq ARE SUPPORTING UKRAINE’S SECURITY FORCES in the volatile east of the country.”

Why would Russia employ mercenaries against its own interest. Think CIA/State department protecting its $5Billion investment in the puppet government it installed in Kiev

Based on their performance, if those are indeed mercenaries from Blackwater/Academi their standards have dropped a lot. Someone needs to demand a refund.

I’d be more inclined to believe the reports of Chechens being recruited by the Russians to explain the eyes being gouged out the ears cut off.

On the whole it smells like Russian disinformation to counter the reality of their recruiting and training ofprovocateurs in the Crimea divulged by some captured by the Ukrainian army.

It doesn’t matter what it says in the article, what a video shows, or what the source is. If it doesn’t match whatever today’s current EuroMaidanPR line is, it’s “PROPAGANDA!!”

These ID’s would make perfect OFA “Internet Opinioneers”.

OH wait....

While I tend to agree, there is the matter of “APC #700”, seen in several of the attacks around Slovyansk, which seems to be at the center of the “English speaking” question.

Given Obama’s past history in Tunisia, Libya, and Syria, the idea that he (WE, really) would pay to send in Merc “Advisors” is quite believable.

And that is a huge part of the equation, IMO.

I've only seen this in German papers, supposed sourced from the Bundesnachrichtendienst (BND).

There is also a "revelation" that the post-war Adenauer government was aware of a 40,000 man "secret army" made up of former Wehrmacht and Waffen SS officers armed from police arsenals whose purpose was to spy on SPD (Social Democratic Party) and Communist Party functionaries and to act against them in case of Soviet invasion or civil war in West Germany.

These stories are getting a lot of hits in the German media, and IMHO represent a great disinformation campaign on the part of the FSB.

Putin is working tirelessly and quite successfully to separate German public opinion from the the Atlantic alliance, and these stories are part of those operations.

I would believe it if they’re from another American PMC but I realllly do believe Eric Prince is TOTALLY fed up with working for Uncle Scam.

He is very, very hurt and upset and for great reasons.

Ukraine has every right to hire whatever mercenaries they want to defend their nation. The Russians do it all the time.

As I noted, the meme has been around for a few weeks.

It started on Twitter, was picked up by Russian Media, and is making its way into more “mainstream” media around the world now.

You’re forgetting that the House has already done the preliminaries for impeachment. Believing that Obama would undertake an adventure in Ukraine after his debacle in Syria is improbable.

It doesn’t compute on any level.

LOL! My thought exactly. These guys would leave a noticeable wake.(Or you'd expect them to, anyway).

“Believing that Obama would undertake an adventure in Ukraine after his debacle in Syria is improbable.”

Actually, it computes on MANY levels...

Remember how, after Syria, several Admin types and Dem TV wonks said there were “Other ways to get at Putin”, for daring to embarrass the Messiah. Remember how ANGRY they were about it?

Now we are seeing what they meant by that. And Obama has no fear of a House impeachment, either.
