$474M for 4 failed Obamacare exchanges
Politico ^ | May 11, 2014 | By JENNIFER HABERKORN and KYLE CHENEY

Nearly half a billion dollars in federal money has been spent developing four state Obamacare exchanges that are now in shambles — and the final price tag for salvaging them may go sharply higher.

Each of the states — Massachusetts, Oregon, Nevada and Maryland — embraced Obamacare, and each underperformed. All have come under scathing criticism and now face months of uncertainty as they rush to rebuild their systems or transition to the federal exchange.

The federal government is caught between writing still more exorbitant checks to give them a second chance at creating viable exchanges of their own or, for a lesser although not inexpensive sum, adding still more states to HealthCare.gov. The federal system is already serving 36 states, far more than originally anticipated. . .

Money is no object.

Not when it isn’t their money and not when the goal is total control of the nation’s healthcare system.

No CEO in the private sector would survive such waste and malfeasance. Also, the projects would never get this far along without heads rolling.

Government doesn't belong in the business of business

Lord.

I am a pro in this field, and I could have written a Fed Obamacare website for 15 million (and profited HANDSOMELY) with a small team of equally-proficient professionals, with the three years originally alotted.

This is criminal.

Money is no object.

You are correct because, "Socialism Is Legal Plunder" - Bastiat

BIG GOVERNMENT IS CRONY SOCIALISM

“At a tea at his house the year before, Perkins had sat beside Justice Harlan Stone, and he gave her a tip. She had confided her fears that any great social insurance system would be rejected by the court. Not so, he said, and whispered back the solution: “The taxing power of the federal government is sufficient for everything you want and need.” If the Social Security Act was formulated as a tax, and not a government insurance, it could get through.” - p.229; The Chicken Versus the Eagle; The Forgotten Man - Amity Shlaes

Not with the Feds withholding critical information and changing specifications frequently and at a whim right up to the release date.

That would have paid for a hell of a lot of actual health care.

Instead, it went for incompetent websites for lousy and phoney insurance.

You would think this would anger people, but it doesn’t and wouldn’t, unless they get turned down by rationing boards. And even then, they probably would not know about the waste.

Each of the states — Massachusetts...

Massachusetts? I thought they already had a working system that they based 0bamacare on?

Mass. discarding broken ObamaCare site

"I’ve said all along that no option on the table would be perfect, and the dual track certainly has its benefits and its challenges," said Sarah Iselin, special assistant to Gov. Deval Patrick (D), in a statement Monday.

but, that's not at all what he said late last year on Meet the Press.

Liar, liar...

Many of the votes cast for Scott Brown in 2010 were anti-ObamaCare votes. Mass voters hoped Brown could cast the deciding vote against ObamaCare so Massachusetts could retain its own program.

[Pure theft, people need to be arrested.]

One federal exchange for the whole country would have been a more practical approach than all these state exchanges. But like the “Stimulus” federally funded state exchanges provide an opportunity for corrupt officials and crony contractors to steal and kick back to the DNC.
