Eric Holder Guns Down Gun Owners and Journalists
Townhall.com ^ | May 12, 2014 | Katie Kieffer

Eric Holder gets a thrill out of villainy. He’s the DOJ’s original bad boy.

Holder appears to be a bit confused about his job description. Instead of behaving like the U.S. Attorney General, he’s displaying the maturity of a 17-year-old and the cunning of a mobster.

The U.S. Attorney General has a big job. He (or she) is supposed to be America’s frontline defender of the U.S. Constitution. Unfortunately, Holder is on the frontline of the opposing side. He’s leading the charge against freedom. Here’s how.

Taxpayer-Subsidized Gun Tracking

Holder’s middle name is common sense. Which is why, within days after Silicon Valley venture capitalist Ron Conway offered a $1 million prize to privately fund “smart gun” development, Holder proposed a plan to seize $2 million from taxpayers and dump it into federal research for smart guns.

A so-called smart gun is a firearm that syncs with a radio-frequency identification (RFID) chip in a bracelet or watch. The gun will not fire unless the shooter is wearing the bracelet. Supporters claim RFID will prevent accidental deaths. However, existing smart gun technology is costly (around $1,800 for the firearm and bracelet) and prone to error.

Many people feel uncomfortable relying on RFID for self defense—just as many people would not want to rely on iPhone 5S fingerprint identity sensor technology in a life-or death situation. Besides, there is no reason why anyone should be required by the federal government to use a RFID gun over a non-RFID gun.

The private market can and will develop this technology and consumers will decide whether they like it enough to pay a premium. In the hands of the federal government’s researchers, this technology will be developed in a way that will help the government track gun owners in a worst-case scenario. Or, to support the Solyndras of smart guns in a best-case scenario.

That’s not common sense. That’s dense.

Threatening Pulitzer Prize Winning-Journalists with Jail

“There is no such thing as ‘too big to jail,’” Holder has quipped. Which is interesting considering that he has not jailed himself after he was held in contempt of Congress for failing to come clean on Fast and Furious. Nor has he jailed his girlfriend, Girls Gone Wild Extraordinaire Lois Lerner for her involvement in the IRS witch-hunt against conservative non-profits and her subsequent silence before the American people.

Instead, Holder is closing in on Pulitzer Prize winning-journalist James Risen for protecting the identity of a source for his 2006 book, State of War: The Secret History of the C.I.A. and the Bush Administration. Holder’s DOJ accuses Risen of utilizing former CIA employee Jeffrey Sterling as a source for his story about a CIA project to hand the Iranian government botched blueprints for a nuclear bomb. Sterling is now being prosecuted under the catch-all Espionage Act.

The Bush administration pursued Risen, but backed off. Now, Obama’s administration is digging up old dirt. Why? In an obvious attempt to use Risen as an scapegoat and send this chilling message to all journalists: If you even think of operating as a government watchdog, watch out: we’ll throw you in the slammer.

In the entire history of the United States, no other administration’s Department of Justice has been as ruthless as the current. Whereas Holder’s DOJ has used the Espionage Act to threaten eight whistleblowers, only three individuals have been similarly targeted for leaking “classified information” by all previous administrations combined, according to Truth-Out.org.

Risen has asked the Supreme Court to hear his case and uphold his First Amendment right to free speech. The Court is set to make a decision by next month, but Holder’s DOJ has urged the Court not to hear Risen’s case, which would require Risen to take the stand and potentially go to jail or be fined for refusing to talk.

When Obama first took office, he promised: Barack Obama will strengthen whistleblower laws to protect federal workers who expose waste, fraud, and abuse of authority in government. Obama will ensure that federal agencies expedite the process for reviewing whistleblower claims and whistleblowers have full access to courts and due process.

Our lawyer-president has a tendency to break promises. About ObamaCare. About transparency. About protecting journalists. And he also has a penchant for employing other lawyers, like Holder, whose irresponsibility and immorality have resulted in innocent deaths (think U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian A. Terry and the numerous innocent Mexicans who died in the botched Fast and Furious gun-running scheme). Holder needs to take the high road—or hit the road.

Why would a wolf eating every single hen in the henhouse
take “the high road” or “hit the road”?

The writer is nuts. This has been abdication
by the EXEMPT Congress protecting their own interests.
And when, like the NSA and IRS and DO”J” corruption
their interests do not overlap those of the
US taxpayers then the EXEMPT Congress just laughs
on the way to their EXEMPT brothels and EXEMPT banks.

We should be working towards getting him disbarred. It should be a national movement.

I’m serious.

That's a funny one, but did any sane person take it seriously? Obama only objects to the abuse of power by those who oppose him; he built his career on abusing power to further his own ends.

The definition of the word Conundrum is: something that is puzzling or confusing.

Here are six Conundrums of socialism in the United States of America:

1. America is capitalist and greedy - yet half of the population is subsidized.
2. Half of the population is subsidized - yet they think they are victims.
3. They think they are victims - yet their representatives run the government.
4. Their representatives run the government - yet the poor keep getting poorer.
5. The poor keep getting poorer - yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about.
6. They have things that people in other countries only dream about - yet they want America to be more like those other countries.

Think about it! And that, my friends, pretty much sums up the USA in the 21st Century.
Makes you wonder who is doing the math.

These three, short sentences tell you a lot about the direction of our current government and cultural environment:

1. We are advised to NOT judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics. Funny how that works.
And here’s another one worth considering...

2. Seems we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of money. How come we never hear about welfare or food stamps running out of money? What’s interesting is the first group “worked for” their money, but the second didn’t. Think about it.....

....and Last but not least,
3. Why are we cutting benefits for our veterans, no pay raises for our military and cutting our army to a level lower than before WWII, but we are not stopping the payments or benefits to illegal aliens.

Am I the only one missing something?

Meanwhile Jon Corzine, Democrat politician (US Senator and Governor of New Jersey), campaign contribution bundler, ex Chairman of the crime syndicate posing as a bank Goldman Sachs, and ex CEO of MF Global continues to walk the streets a free man after openly stealing billions from MF Global customers. Any decent Attorney General would have Corzine indicted by a grand jury. No action from the Holder DOJ.

However, there is also no noise about Corzine from the GOP. The Democrats pound the Koch brothers everyday in the media. Corzine is the perfect target for the Republicans to use as a political punching bag. However, for some reason the GOP leadership never seems to be willing to take on Democrat members of the governing elites with the Alinsky tactics the Dems employ so effectively. At the same time they’ll allow the Koch brothers to twist in the wind with no support.

One thing we can count on. If there is an opportunity to attack the Democrats in a meaningful way, the GOP will run from it.

Eric Holder is a racist.

Period.

He has effectively made the Department of Justice into the Department of Just Us.

His every action is directed toward the furtherance of destruction of the US Constitution and the curtailment of the success of the white man in the United States of America.

He is assisted and directed in his efforts by the racist-in-chief, the dishonorable obama.

I'm writing letters to my representatives, editors and colleagues in various organizations.

It's all I can do at this point.

What are you doing?

Wrong. Common sense, respect for the seriousness of owning & handling a firearm, and an appreciation of the consequences of carelessness are what prevents accidents. This is why some people do not like Glocks or DA pistols. All of a sudden trigger discipline is just that much more important than with firearms with a separate safety. For example, holstering my G19 in 15+1, (what is effectively carry condition 0) always gives me pause. I make very sure no fingers or parts of clothing are in or near the trigger guard...

My take on human nature is that the people who tend to have accidents are those that are or get careless. Give people another layer of "we'll protect you from yourself" technology and you're really only encouraging reliance on it and additional carelessness. Owning and handling existing firearms, yes even Glocks and DA pistols, is perfectly safe when some very simple rules are followed. These rules have been learned the hard way.

That said, I can see where this technology might make sense for some people. Say you had small children in the home yet wanted timely access to a firearm. I might have a conventional firearm as a concealed carry option. Then when I get home secure it under lock and key, and have something like this RFID thing as an option on the "house gun." Though rather than leave a loaded weapon around the house relying on the watch you're wearing to render it safe...why not just carry in the home too? Keep the weapon on you rather than the watch and you'll know it is secure. I'm not saying RFID shouldn't be an option - just that it is not one I think I would ever use.

There's the rub. I'm sure there are family/homeowner situations where RFID options make sense, just as I'm sure it does not make sense for me. Yet the gun-control advocates will try to push this as a universal, non-optional requirement.

Maybe Holder can tell us how many of the hundreds of people killed in Chicago every year are killed 'by accident'?

Sorry Holder - most of the murders in Chicago are done by black people who are aiming a gun at a person IN ORDER to kill them. These guns aren't going off by accident. Come on Holder, tell us the truth for once... try something different.

Good luck. Some state bars are more blatantly corrupt than even he is.
