Thousands of Iranian women are taking off their veils and publishing pictures of themselves online, igniting a debate about the freedom to wear or not wear the hijab.
A Facebook page set up by London-based Iranian journalist Masih Alinejad 10 days ago has attracted more than 130,000 likes, with women across Iran sending unveiled pictures taken in parks, at the seaside and in the streets.
"My stealthy freedom while driving in the streets of Tehran," wrote Maryam alongside an image showing her behind the wheel. "I like to feel the wind blowing on my face."

Iranian and Arab women are very beautiful. Too bad they are Muslim.
In America, facebook gets you fired. In Iran, I’m sure it will get you killed.
Back in the ‘70’s I had a college friend who worked in the airport. He said as soon as the Iranians arrived the women would throw away the hijab and the men would buy cigarettes.
None of the ones I knew in school wanted to return to Iran. I often wondered how they faired, the men returning addicted to tobacco and the women, some of whom were pretty, having to cover themselves.
I took a 7:30am flight from Amman to London a few years ago. A very well acquitted woman in hijab sat in front of me, one seat to the left. At wheels up she removed her head cover and fully reclined her seat. When the plane leveled off she ordered beer for breakfast.

The Shah was deposed for trying to drag the brain dead muslims from the 7th century all the way forward to the 17th century.

The Iranian students here do not wear the hijab. It is usually only worn by married Muslim women and the occasional feminist convert.
The local mosque suffered a church split a few years ago. The North Main St mosque is more liberal than the South Main St mosque
