There is something very, very wrong with the Albuquerque, New Mexico police department, and the citizens have just about had enough. Before I get into the heart of this story, I need to provide you with a little background. The Albuquerque Police Department (APD) is well known for its outrageous and inappropriate use of violence. So much so that it has been under investigation by the Department of Justice, which wrote a letter to the Mayor of Albuquerque on April 10, 2014 condemning the police force. Here’s an excerpt from the letter:

Based on our investigation, we have reasonable cause to believe that APD engages in a pattern or practice of use of excessive force, including deadly force, in violation of the Fourth Amendment and Section 14141. Our investigation included a comprehensive review of APD’s operations and the City’s oversight systems. We have determined that structural and systemic deficiencies—including insufficient oversight, inadequate training, and ineffective policies— contribute to the use of unreasonable force. At the conclusion of this letter, we outline the remedial measures that we believe are necessary to ensure that force is used in accordance with the Constitution. In some instances, these recommendations build on measures and initiatives that are already underway within the department.

Just prior to the release of the letter, APD officers shot in the back and killed a homeless man named James M. Boyd, who was camping in the Albuquerque foothills. More recently (and after the DOJ’s letter was sent), 50-year-old Air Force veteran Armand Martin was killed outside of his home by a SWAT team in a standoff with police. It seems the APD is incapable of solving any sort of dispute without a citizen ending up dead.

It makes you wonder what is up with law enforcement in New Mexico in

Golly, if things get out of hand, they might have to call in some heavily armed federal agents from the Dept. of Agriculture, Bureau of Land Management, or the IRS.

Maybe all three.

As Jack Spirco likes to say, "When your only tool is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail".

I recommend everyone study the Stanford Prison Experiment in order to understand what is happening with the police, and with citizens. This is not a situation where the police are protecting society against criminals or hate groups.

The "hate groups" and "terrorists" are being generated by the police as a normal psychological reaction to the overmilitarization of the police. There is nothing the police can do to force citizens into compliance now. They must back down, get rid of these stormtrooper outfits, and change their training to "serve and protect."

Good thing they had the foresight to create militarized, heavily armed "investigative" branches in those agencies, and purchase them what, a billion bullets in order to keep the little people in line...

When the rule of law has been violated against citizens to the point of causing righteous and justified uprisings en masse it won’t matter what the law says when the violators are forcibly removed from office. You inflict lawlessness and tyrrany against citizens long enough and eventually the hangman comes calling. It won’t be pretty.

People are becoming outraged over government and it's agents of government... It's ironic the government talking head demanded order, yet it's government and it's agents who are completely out of order.

They ran out of the meeting. They best hope things don't escalate there and elsewhere, as they will find themselves totally and completely outnumbered by very angry people.

Wow!! I watched that video and there was no justification for deadly force from what I saw.
Words fail me in describing how disturbing that was.

The councilman kept whining about not being able to do anything with the protest going on. I'd bet my bottom dollar they've been promising to do something for the last 15 meetings and did exactly nothing which is why the people were there protesting.

Exactly where we find ourselves on the national level too.
