In November 2008 after the presidential election Barack Obama promised to fix Americas crumbling roads and bridges with his trillion dollar Keynesian stimulus plan.
It never happened.

He’s ‘Recycling’.........................gotta stay green ya know.................
Next week a revisit of the vacuous “focusing like a laser on the economy” in preparation for “recovery summer version #6”.
what benefit did we get from Porkulus?
As I recall, Obama said it was an emergency which required Porkulus to be passed quickly. He had been president less than a month when he signed Porkulus into law.
I think we should review what benefit we got from that law, before we run off and do something similar.
I live in NY. Brain-dead leftist voters, many of whom are connected to the public unions absolutely LOVE this stuff. Besides “crumbling bridges” the other favorite slogan is how “kids” are suffering due to “cutbacks in education.”
More “shovel ready” S**t?
Another appeal for union loot.
Wonder if he knows what gas taxes are for oh wait it goes into the general fund foe squandering.
What about Shuttered Mills? Does he say anything this time about Shuttered Mills? I remember back in 2008 he bemoaned all the Shuttered Mills. I’m just wondering if any are still Shuttered, after all this Obamatime.
Its springtime, can’t he focus on green shoots?
I was still thinking he had his laser focus on jobs. And climate change and immigration.
I thought that trillion dollar pork bill was used for all those shovel ready infrastructure jobs. At least that is what he said that time.
If he’s recycling his old ideas, then that means he has no new ones to show..........................
Might as well call for “Recovery Summer”.
You got the money for this already, idiot!
Even Hollywood would be embarrassed by this remake.
Speaking of “crumbling roads and bridges”, remember “you didn’t build that”?
The decay of the infrastructure is caused by shortsighted politicians and government bureaucrats who don't allow for the destructive effects of inflation on the replacement costs of the assets they manage. As inflation pours new and additional revenues into their hands, they proceed as though the revenues were available for the expansion of government activities, and neglect the need to devote an adequate portion of them to replacement and maintenance at progressively rising prices. The result is decaying water and sewage systems, subway and rail lines, and bridges and tunnels, as well as decaying roads and highways.
And since libtards are responsible for the nexus of inflation and Keynesian government budget deficit spending, they are responsible for another perversity of result, where they end up hurting the people they are trying to help.

Fixing roads and bridges is the lie democrats tell to their ‘non-elite’ white members.
It’s the equivalent of the ‘we’re gonna take care of you’ lie they give to blacks... The ‘white’ version.
Yup. Back in 2008, when he was promising shovel ready jobs, he didn't tell us that we would be shoveling up his s**t for years to come. Everything the "O" does creates s**t.
They’ve been crumbling for five years...
Where’s the beef?
Yet his environmental policies are all about making driving prohibitively expensive.
Irony, The Mark of Quality Literature
It sure is. I recall back in the mid '90s Slick Willie "promised" he would fix all of the crumbling infrastructure. Still waiting.
I live in the desert of Western WA. The highway to my subdivision had a big Recovery Act sign on it while the shoulders were graded and hydromulch sprayed on it. Since it is the desert, the grass that came up quickly died, and it returned back to sandy desert soon after. It’s as if it never even happened.
Recovery Summer 5.0....
If only we had some kind of stimulus program.... heh
Would that the past 6 years could disappear as easily!
yeah, okay, I'll go finish my laundry now...
“There was a Facebook post in the Lower Hud site and some minority was complaining that not enough minority workers on the Tappan Zee Project. I almost spit my coffee out so I posted don’t worry you can hire the 38k rapist, murders and drunks that Obama released.”
There are specific quotas of minorities that those contractors need to fill; the poster is full of it. What is more likely is that there are a large number of Hispanics (who may be mistaken for whites) and white women hired to fill the “token levy”. Probably twenty years ago there was a construction site brawl in NYC between groups of black and Hispanics who had shown up to fill the “token levy”; this is nothing new. These “jobs” are plum positions because they don’t have to do anything except show up and be black, Hispanic, or female; the work is done by white men. Hasn’t anyone noticed the 5’4” women in hard hats standing at contruction sites waving unnecessary flags for traffic (behind the cop car parked there to divert traffic already)? They are part of the “token levy” as well.
“I live in NY. Brain-dead leftist voters, many of whom are connected to the public unions absolutely LOVE this stuff. Besides crumbling bridges the other favorite slogan is how kids are suffering due to cutbacks in education.
Same here in NJ, though many voters are now responding to the hikes in taxes these workfare programs generate. As the private sector continues to flee the area (taking taxpaying employees with it), the funds to maintain the infrastructure go with them.
Because of the scrutiny involved in the melanin and testosterone of the workers on these projects, I think it is hard for illegals to work on these projects (as opposed to private work sites). The primary beneficiaries of these are the documented “victims” the benefit from affirmative action. When you see how much private sector union membership has shrunk in the past few decades, these jobs are among the exceptions (and probably the last holding on); these tokens are very expensive, and protected by law.
I will check the site later to see how many death threats I received. :)
Don’t worry; nobody can defend those “workers” with a straight face...
So they'll never fix the roads and bridges.
And blacks will never 'get their piece of the pie'... not if dems have anything to do with it. Promises only work with longing...
Some years ago someone posted the numbers spent during the Clinton and Bush administrations and it was huge. At that time the Dems were accusing Bush of failing to fix the infrastructure. First of all Congress sets the spending and all presidents do is squiggle their name on the bill and they always do that. Secondly the spending when Bush was pres. was far more than when Slick Willie was.
Wasn’t that what that 1st big trillion dollars we got hosed in to giving this punk ass poser?
Shovel ready jobs? Didn’t that money too get funneled to his union backers and very little got done?
And that "1st big trillion dollars" got crammed into every subsequent budget -- thanks to the miracle of "baseline budgeting" -- so that we're now working on our "5th big trillion dollars". <
With zilcho to show for it -- save some richer crony capitalists and some even more insanely inflated welfare programs.
High speed rail to places. Sorry... high speed rail from Tampa to Orlando would be slower than Amtrak...stops are planned from Tamps International Airportto downtown (5 miles), then Plant City (20 miles), Lakeland (8 miles), Haines City (25 miles), Kissimmee (10 miles) Disney (4) Orlando (6) to Orlando International Airport (6). Sorry the stops won’t make the train hit high speed.
I think you mean eastern Washington. As a transportation professional I can tell you why the roads and bridges in Washington are crumbling, it’s because they spend it all on roads and bridges for Seattle/King County! They are currently spending $6 Billion on one bridge and one tunnel while the rest of the cities and counties get next to nothing.
That $6 billion would fix or build just about every planned or current project for the next 20 years and provide excellent growth opportunities for economic investment. Instead the new buzzword is congestion management/relief. He’ll, just the annual bond payments on these two boondoggles would put a pretty big dent in this states transportation needs.
Next thing WSDOT is planning is the mileage tax to go along with all of the tolls. This should hit us in about 3-5 years.
Yes, I meant Eastern WA. I think I have map dyslexia, if that is a thing.
