In Ukraine, the US is dragging us towards war with Russia
The Guardian ^ | May 13, 2014 | John Pilger

Washington's role in Ukraine, and its backing for the regime's neo-Nazis, has huge implications for the rest of the world.

Why do we tolerate the threat of another world war in our name? Why do we allow lies that justify this risk? The scale of our indoctrination, wrote Harold Pinter, is a "brilliant, even witty, highly successful act of hypnosis", as if the truth "never happened even while it was happening".

Every year the American historian William Blum publishes his "updated summary of the record of US foreign policy" which shows that, since 1945, the US has tried to overthrow more than 50 governments, many of them democratically elected; grossly interfered in elections in 30 countries; bombed the civilian populations of 30 countries; used chemical and biological weapons; and attempted to assassinate foreign leaders.

In many cases Britain has been a collaborator. The degree of human suffering, let alone criminality, is little acknowledged in the west, despite the presence of the world's most advanced communications and nominally most free journalism. That the most numerous victims of terrorism – "our" terrorism – are Muslims, is unsayable. That extreme jihadism, which led to 9/11, was nurtured as a weapon of Anglo-American policy (Operation Cyclone in Afghanistan) is suppressed. In April the US state department noted that, following Nato's campaign in 2011, "Libya has become a terrorist safe haven".

Never mind that over that period of time nobody else lifted a finger to help stave off problems around the planet. So while they all sat on their hands, we did the heavy lifting.

Now they carp.

Yes, well, it looks as if the planet will get to see what natural selection provides once the Great Satan (the U.S.) withdraws from being the world’s police agency.

Enjoy folks...

You only signed up recently to represent and present, Russian propaganda in regards to this Russian operation, it seems.

Give The Guardian high marks for consistencey. This is the same article they wrote about Bush and Iraq with “Obama” substituted for “Bush.” It would be nice to hear how US Libs explain how it is that the British Left sees Obama as a bloodthirsty warmonger just like Bush.

This person should be president of the Blame America First Committee!

Idiots like this seem to forget that when all the sh...tuff is happening around the world, everyone looks to the US and says, "Do something!" Then, when we do something (often the wrong something) or we do nothing, and either way excrement hits the rotating air circulator, the world looks at the US and says, "Why did you do that?"

These Richard-Heads need to lead, follow, or get out of the way! And regardless of the above choice, JUST SHUT UP!

In fact, outside of your work for Russian propaganda, you don’t seem to have any reason for having joined FR, or any interest in it.

There was a report that you people existed and were working the internet and forums, you seem evidence of that.

Too bad your sign up and posting history, shows the truth of the matter.

There is no more obvious propagandist on FR, than yourself.

In your case it is unique, because it involves selling the interests of a foreign government.

You are so fast jumping to a conclusions.
I guess the main reason why you dislike me is that some people think that only their opinion is correct and anyone who disagree has to shut up or die.
Yet they think they are pro-freedom and conservative.
To me, their major problem is that they won’t see a real tyranny facing them a few inches ahead.

Can we compromise on a Blame Washington DC First committee? Those clowns there are the ones calling the shots. That sess pool isn't "America" and none of them have spoken for me in decades. That's who I blame.

There will be no war with Russia. Sorry to say it, but the US is no longer capable of fighting a large scale war on the scale of WW2. We would never be able to mobilize enough men to fight. Too many minorities in the country. Each one unwilling to fight for the US. Most of them would rather break off and fight for an independent state within the US.
Even if Russia were gassing the Ukrainians, nothing would be done about it. Look at North Korea. Everybody knows what goes on there but it continues. Look at Islam. Nobody cares if they kill non Muslims by the hundreds.
