Business Execs: Amnesty Legislation Will Be Last Act of Lame-Duck Session
breitbart.com ^ | 5/13/14 | Tony Lee

Posted on 05/14/2014 11:08:09 AM PDT by cotton1706

Two of the most prominent CEOs that have been lobbying Congress for immigration reform and amnesty legislation indicated on Monday this Congress's final act could be passing sweeping amnesty legislation in the lame-duck session.

At a panel on the economy and infrastructure investment at the Newseum on Monday, Jay Timmons, the CEO of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), which has lobbied extensively for amnesty legislation, and Tom Donohue, the CEO of the Chamber of Commerce, agreed that amnesty legislation could pass even after the November elections despite the August deadline that is being floated.

"I think it'll happen in the lame-duck session as the final piece of legislation," Timmons said.

Donohue, after saying that immigration reform was "doable" this year, said, "I think that too." He then said that "would be the fallback position" even as he pressures Congress to pass legislation in the next three months that the Congressional Budget Office determined would lower the wages of American workers.

Even though an Eagle Forum report documented how mass immigration may doom a conservative Republican Party and a plurality of voters have indicated in two national polls that they would be "less likely" to vote for candidates who support amnesty, Donohue half-joked that Republicans were guaranteed to lose the White House again in 2016 if they don't pass amnesty.

“If the Republicans don’t do it, they shouldn’t bother to run a candidate in 2016,” Donohue said. "Think about who the voters are. I just did that to get everybody’s attention.”

...Donohue [head of the US Chamber of Commerce]half-joked that Republicans were guaranteed to lose the White House again in 2016 if they don't pass amnesty.

This is complete conjecture. A statement with absolutely no supporting evidence or empirical data. A scare tactic designed to sway the wimpy, reactionary GOP-e.

If the GOP-e does this in the lame duck then, yes, they can kiss 2016 GOOD BYE! Because I and others will not reward these cowardly traitors for this despicable act of treason.

Once 20-35 million illegals aliens are Registered and allowed to Remain in place, it’s over.

Chain migration at the six, twelve, and eighteen year intervals, will swamp this nation.

We really are watching the fall of the United States here.

The Democrats will have full control, and by the time they’re done, the old U. S. S. R. will look like the promised land.

The end.

If they do this I will never vote for another Republican as long as I live, no matter what.

And I will actively encourage everyone I know to do the same.

Perfect. The single most significant issue most negatively effecting the immediate and long term future of the nation and will alter its character forever is going to be slipped through at the very end of a lame duck congress.

If that is how they intend to push it through, then it means they KNOW it is the wrong thing to do.

Reaching an incorrect conclusion after honest analysis and thought is one thing.

Intentionally setting out to do something one KNOWS is wrong is evil.

It may indeed be the “last act” of these politicians.

Once the invasion is authorized, resistance may very well increase proportionately.

Ah, what obvious plan that should have been foreseen earlier:

1. Slow play amnesty for the next few months, deny to our faces that they plan on doing this, in order to ensure a solid conservative base turnout in November.

2. Second week in November, unveil amnesty and plunge the knife yet again into the backs of conservatives.

3. People having short memories, GOP leftists will conclude that conservatives have nowhere else to go in 2016 and will come back to the reservation.

It the Republican Party is to die, what will we replace it with? Are we just supposed to vote as independents? We need to create a new party by carving up the Republican party and taking the good senators and representatives into a new party. This is how the Republican Party was created in the 1850’s when it enlisted former Whigs and former Free Soil Democrats to form majorities in nearly every Northern State. The plutocrats leading the GOP are irredeemable.

“If the Republicans don’t do it, they shouldn’t bother to run a candidate in 2016", Donohue said.

WRONG, Donohue. You've got it exactly backwards. The GOP will be wiped from the face of the political map if they sneak amnesty through the way Pelosi did ObamaCare - through sleight of hand, dark of night, damn the voters, we want this anyway corruption.

An open letter to the GOP Members of Congress

As a Representative or Senator in Congress, you took this Oath:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."

"Support and defend the Constitution" it says. Did you see that? That document requires, per Art.4, S.4, that

"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence."

An invasion is what we are suffering. That invasion has accelerated with each "comprehensive immigration reform" previously enacted. Instead of another disastrous reform that yet again increases the incentives for millions more to try their luck crossing the southern border, a Representative who took his Oath and the Constitution seriously would be pressing for what the American people have repeatedly said they want - not what Senators Schumer and McCain, Mark Zuckerberg, Mexico, some border state farmers and homebuilders or the Chamber of Commerce rent-seekers want. That is:
  1. secure the border in a transparently verifiable way;
  2. end the anchor-baby interpretation of the 14th Amendment;
  3. enforce eVerify without exception and with severe penalties;
  4. no government benefits beyond critical emergency care (and that ought to be billed back to the home government); and
  5. NO "Path to Citizenship" - EVER - for anyone who has entered the US illegally.
Any bill that does not accomplish these five things is unacceptable. It is de facto amnesty. And it will inevitably encourage millions more illegal entries.

If the GOP is complicit in this amnesty fiasco, either by taking up the Senate bill or through some piecemeal slight of hand with a series of House bills such as we hear are being cooked up of late, or as riders on other necessary legislation, the GOP will cease to exist. It will not survive through the 2016 elections. The people will shun the over-tanned, glad-handing, backslapping quislings and look elsewhere for leaders who actually have the spine for the fight. Make no mistake - to me and to many, many others, amnesty is the GOP's Rubicon. Cross it at your electoral peril.

Given the *WILL NOT* reward mention in the initial poster's point, and the *WILL* reward language in your post, it appeared to me you were stating that you would vote FOR the Rs that push amnesty. I asked the question because I found the comment confusing.

By changing the language from *WILL NOT* to *WILL*, your post appears to express an opposite intent of Obadiah's original post.

If amnesty passes, the scumbag, traitor politicians who vote for it should be swinging from a rope tied to the highest branch of the tallest tree in Washington.

And the scumbag traitors from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Manufacturers should be right next to them.

Your analysis is correct based upon historical evidence. However, the GOP-e will be wildly wrong about point #3.

Twelve million Republicans sat home in 2012 rather than Romney. I have no doubt that more than twice that number will do that in 2016 if they pull this stunt. And, if they are counting on doing this quickly to put as much daylight between this treasonous act and November 2016 thinking voters will soften, they are sadly, painfully mistaken.

If they do this they will NOT have my vote and I don't care if Chelsea Clinton is the Democrat's nominee. All the scare tactics of how bad it will be if we elect Democrat so-and-so will fall on deaf ears.

We’ve had 16 years of Clinton and Obama due to guys like this Chamber of Commerce guy, so if people really want the collapse of the USA, then this is the path and I cannot and will not bust a gut to try and stop it.

I will however, be there in the aftermath.

A post-November 2014 amnesty vote is a real possibility.

The elections will be over. The Republican victors in November who are from “safe seats” (i.e., filled with low information voters who don’t even know what amnesty is or filled with mushy centrists who think it’s kind of neat to have amnesty) don’t have to worry about a backlash. The Republicans who win and do have sizable constituencies who oppose amnesty will have 2 years until the next election, during which time they can hope the voters forget.

The real gambit is probably for Boehner/Cantor/McCarthy/McMorris-Rodgers to push through amnesty with a bare number of Republicans (20 +/-) and all—or nearly all—of the Dhimms.

WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE AT THIS TIME ANYWAY?

Uh, given how well those 'wars' have turned out, I don't really think we do. We just need to enforce the law, build a fence, and start shooting anyone who tries to cross in our direction.
