The IRS’ Washington, D.C. headquarters targeted conservative groups in part due to pressure from Democratic Sen. Carl Levin, according to emails obtained by the watchdog group Judicial Watch and reviewed by The Daily Caller.

Levin, chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs’ permanent subcommittee on investigations, wrote a March 30, 2012 letter to then-IRS commissioner Douglas Shulman discussing the “urgency” of the issue of possible political activity by nonprofit applicants. Levin asked if the IRS was sending out additional information requests to applicant groups and citing an IRS rejection letter to a conservative group as an example of how the IRS should be conducting its business.

Certainly there was no ill intent or conspiracy to cover any of this up. Just the usual conservatives war against women. Kinda like the Benghazi story. Conservatives ganging up on the hildbeast. They're not trying to cover anything up. No, somebody else did that.

I sure hope there’s more e-mails tying Elijiah Cummings to this.

hopefully enough to get him kicked off the Oversight Committee for his obstruction and lies

Levin has decided not to run this November...
one has to wonder if this news might be “why”...

The November race will be between Gary Peters(D) and Terri Lynn Land(R).
Carl Levin got 63% of the vote in 2008.

When Republicans take the House and the Senate there will be time for some very interesting ethics show trails in both chambers of Congress.

How many times did the IRS head visit the White House? This scandal goes much higher than that putz, Levin.

” - - - Then-IRS deputy commissioner Steven T. Miller sent Levin a 16-page response explaining that the flexibility of IRS rules allow for the agency to “prepare individualized questions and requests.”

Is this the same official that visited the WH over 130 times?

One time was to accompany his son for the WH Easter Egg hunt?

This should be a huge scandal. However, CNN is still having a fit over Sterling (when I last checked) and probably will get back to discussion of not finding the airplane.

I think Terri Land is going to pull this one off. She has both tea party support and establishment backing plus she’s consistently leading.

She’s no firebrand but she’s no Olympia Snowe either.

Is using the power of the Federal government to pressure and punish political enemies a crime? If it isn't it should be.

It definitely is, to any decent person, a crime.

However, we’re not talking about decent persons here.
In fact, there really is no other reason to attain power,
in a leftist’s mind, than to do exactly THIS with it.

If convicted of using a Federal agency to persecute a political enemy what might the defendant be facing? I would like to bring back hanging, but I have no clue as to what the punishment might be?

See, that’s the whole problem with government malfeasance.
There are not enough individual consequences.

I’m experiencing this on a county level. The people that are arbitrary and capricious, “ruling” on a whim and screwing with people’s lives and livelihood never have any consequences, so they keep doing it.

Newest Terri Land campaign ad. Kind of standard but straightforward and informative.
