Former U.S. President Bill Clinton accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of attempting to "re-establish Russian greatness," warning world leaders they are perhaps not dealing with a rational foreign-policy thinker.
"Putin wants to re-establish Russian greatness, not in Cold War terms - in 19th-century-empire terms," Clinton said during a question-and-answer session at the Peter G. Peterson Foundation's annual Fiscal Summit on Wednesday.
Some of Putin's recent comments have stirred concern within foreign-policy circles. Over the past weeks, he has repeatedly referred to regions making up southeast Ukraine as "Novorussia," or "New Russia," and he has said Russia has a right to intervene on behalf of ethnic Russians living in those areas.

is it just me ? Or is this what we get for electing a community organizer for Commander and Chief ?
Uh its not “19th century thinking”.
Its pretty much all of human history excepting the aberration of the past 70 years since the end of WW2.
“...he has said Russia has a right to intervene on behalf of ethnic Russians living in those areas.”
This reminds me of what Hitler claimed, about ethnic Germans.
BC wasted a cigar. BC lied to every man’s face. BC is a POS.
Go to H Billy boy, no one gives a s what you say. Do humanity a favor and throw yourself in front of a train.
I think Bill C was referring here to our very own narcissist-in-chief.
“Putin wants to re-establish Russian greatness, not in Cold War terms - in 19th-century-empire terms,”
A little late to the party there, Billy. I think it’s pretty obvious to most people by now that Putin has nationalist views, and a desire to restore Russia’s power both regionally and on the world stage. Most FReepers (not counting the handful of folks who were in the now eerily quiet Putin Fan Club) saw this coming a long time ago.
Clinton’s been reading my stuff - I said it weeks ago
The NWO/AGenda 21/EU = UN World control that folks getting a little upset that Putin and Russians in the Crimea and eastern Ukraine don’t want to be forced into the the EU/NATO/UN rule -
\\Will the real EXPANSIONISTS please stand up?
Putin’s rich, but he doesn’t think like a Donald Trump. Putin probably could have bought Crimea, but stealing it gratifies him far more.
And so he taps into old Bear aspirations? This is like twiddledee versus twiddledum. UN wickedness makes Russian expansionism no less wicked.
UN (I would say EU) wickedness makes Russian expansionism no less wicked. You are correct but it does help to explain how it all kicked off. We all know Putin is using it as an excuse. The EU overreached, miscalculated and should have been much more on the ball when it came to Putin.

Clintons are disappointed as far as there are no communists running the show.
a community organizer who has zero zip nada experience managing much less leading. About all he can do is spout SDS/Black Power babble from a teleprompter. He’s as oblivious to the real effects of Marxism as he is to Russian ships in Cuba.
Clinton may be a lecher, and lack self-control, but he’s not an idiot (unlike the current Prez). He actually knows how to do the job, and has the political chops to be credible in the position.
It’s a trap!
Hypocrisy of the highest order.
Sudetenland anyone?
So, exactly how did they get him to stop chasing tail long enough to sit down and think up these deep world-scene thoughts?
Bill Clinton, now isn’t he the impeached clown whose wife hit the re-set button with Russia and thereby performed an epic fail? Is that him?
