The guy claiming his house was in the middle of the fire, said that he had 5 dogs and couldn't evacuate because of a bad ”muffler bearing”

It's telling that no one at the station new this was a hoax. What is sad is that folks may have gone out to try and rescue the guy and his dogs.

Channel 10’s reporting aside, the number and location of fires is very suspicious.

San Marcos fire is spreading east VERY quickly.

Yeah, they’re attached to the stator and the turbine, below the seat buckle and in front of the whisk.

From what I heard yesterday, all of the fires started pretty much at the same time, which raises suspicion right there..whenever it gets very hot here, the crazies come out to start fires and watch it burn..it gets them off

Wildfires help make the case for global warming. Wrecked oil trains and pipeline leaks in big media markets aid the cause of the anti carbon zealots. The Fast and Furious gun plot would have increased support for gun control. Hmmmmm....Nah couldn’t be.

This is the channel that ran a story for a couple hours this morning with a guy saying he couldn't evacuate because his van had a bad "muffler bearing".

Sounds like my kind of guy. Messing with the newsfolk is always fun. Did he mention anything of his left-handed-smoke-shifter, or his widget arm on his maniform?

an FBI memo alerted law enforcement agencies that an al-Qaida terrorist being held in detention had talked of masterminding a plot to set a series of devastating forest fires around the western United States,” the National Terror Alert Response Center warned.

The arson strategy is recommended in al qaeda handbooks, so this is not surprising ... the arsonists and/or their motives in the recent spate of forest fires in America

Just contacted some friends in San Marcos.

Their home has been under a "get ready to evacuate" order since yesterday.

Fires died down a little overnight but have broken out against this morning.

They are loaded and ready to leave.

Prayers for all in the path of the fires and for those fighting them.

Yup. They also wait for strong Santa Ana winds to spread the flames quickly. These fires look very suspicious.

i posted this list pretty late last nite on another thread but seems appropriate to this conversation, too. Only the Anaheim and Tomahawk fires were isolated to vehicle fire origins. My guess is the perp lives somewhere in the area south of the last fire. There was no way to get north on I5 or I15 because of extended closures of each from early afternoon on. Don’t know what it means for a high school and a college to be on the list but it might be a hint somehow.

From my location I can see new smoke over the hill to the southwest, looks pretty black - seems to around Oceanside/San Clemente area?

(Bernado Fire/North San Diego County/Del Norte Highschool area - 10:30am Tuesday)

Los Ceritos Wetlands/Long Beach 9:30am - spot fires spread on boats in Alamitos Bay; roof of hotel; wetlands fire was ‘largest in 20 years’
Tomahawk Fire/Fallbrook 9:45am = boxtruck on fire origins
Border Patrol Station/San Clemente 10:00am
Pointsetta/Carlsbad 10:35am
Highway Fire/Rancho Monserate/Rancho Viejo 12:00pm
Freeway Fire/San Onofre/Anaheim 12:30pm big-rig fire origin
Oceanside Fire 1:00pm
Escondito Fire abt 1:00pm
Briggs Fire Santa Paula/Ventura 1:10pm
San Marcos/Cocos Fire 3:45pm- graduation ceremonies cancelled for this weekend
Mission Hills/405 Freeway Fire before 4pm
Aurora Fire/Lakeside 5pm
Scripps Ranch Fire abt 5pm

The Oceanside fire (which I think is near N River Road) has been flaring up all day.

I live in North County San Diego, and all of those fires began within 25 miles of our town. They did not start at the same time but started in about a one hour sequence. Some mentally deficient and aggrieved dude in an old pickup will no doubt be collared for the crime within the next week.

Whatever happened to few neighbors in the 2012 fires that started a backfire on a couple or three properties right before the main blaze hit them? They set the backfires when They saw the firemen pull out. If I recall those two or three houses were the only ones to survive out of 500. Amazingly the prosecutor wanted to charge them with arson.
