Lee Terry won’t get GOP rival’s blessing
Nebraska Watchdog ^ | Joe Jordan

When it comes to Congressman Lee Terry’s re-election push, Dan Frei is pushing back.

Only hours after his badly underfunded bid to unseat Terry in Tuesday’s Republican primary came up just short on votes but long on attaboys, Frei tells Nebraska Watchdog he’s keeping his distance.

“I do not have an endorsement for Congressman Terry,” says Frei who was also a no-show at the GOP’s post-election unity breakfast in Lincoln.

Despite ponying up $900,000 to Frei’s $40,000, Terry, an 8-term incumbent, managed a meager six-point win.

They're talking about letting the Democrat win in 2014 and letting a Tea Party candidate take the seat in 2016.

Absolutely stupid. No wonder we are in the mess we are. You don’t give away seats. You keep them and then you fight for it next round. How do you know that seat won’t stay democrat for awhile. 2016 is TOUGH for Republicans especially in the Senate (I know this is a House seat) but we don’t have time to worry about a seat that we can win this year.

I dont think it will happen. I think Terry was weak in 2008, strong in 2010, weak in 2012 and will be strong in 2014.

Democratic John Ewing 49.2% 129,767
Terry Incumbent 50.8% 133,964

Lee Terry incumbent 60.8% 93,840
Democratic Tom White 39.2% 60,486

Lee Terry incumbent 51.9% 142,473
Democratic Jim Esch 48.1% 131,901

What is stupid is rewarding liberal republicans with your vote.

John Cornyn will have to win without out my vote. Or lose... I don't care which.

Did some guy write a book about "how to win friends and influence people?" Ah, you never read it.... /s

Half the male readers of FR get up in the morning and sing "Kumbaya" in the shower instead of washing their n**s. Truth, honor, loyalty, dignity, doing the right thing, are just words to them. Freedom is a curious concept, history is a foreign language, and they will insist life is all a shade of gray. These adult males are going to castigate you for being judgmental. I, on the other hand, applaud.

“... we don’t have time to worry about a seat that we can win this year.”

I wrestle with this problem myself, but I believe that your course is the correct one because a RINO is a little closer to what is needed than a RAT. And as you point out regaining a lost seat can take a very long time. All that said, good on Sasse, Capito and the 17 year-old in WVA who won Tuesday. The real problem is with the vast majority of those who call themselves Republicans but continue to return the likes or Cornyn and Graham to office. It isn’t the candidates as much as it’s the moronic GOP voters. These people who are going to teach us all a lesson and stay home are the ones that are reprehensible. And right after an election, they are back to braying about just how awful things are.

It is not great having to hold me nose. I have done it numerous times. However, I am looking at big picture where we get committees and other beanies for being in charge. Plus the Dems only need 17 seats to take after the House....why make it easy for them. The Senate is a must and I don’t care how we get it. We must have it for committee, bills and other things. We always want to screw ourselves. Anytime we get arrogant we lose.

Lee Terry looks like a loser for conservatives, though the Lindsay wing of the party may find him attractive. If you support Mr. Obama, you will find Mr. Terry to be your man.
I hope Mr. Frei considers running as an independent.
Mr. Terry is a weak candidate and a Democrat in Republican clothing.
‘he signed a pledge sponsored by Americans for Limited Government promising to limit himself to three terms in office. After winning the primary and general elections, Terry reneged on his promise, saying that he had signed the pledge because “term limits is an important issue and that was the way I wanted to signify my dedication to the issue.” He is currently serving his eighth term in the House.[18]’
‘In 2009, Terry was named one of the most bipartisan members of the House of Representatives by The Hill’’
Terry appealed to Obama supporters, dubbing them “Obama-Terry voters”, and emphasising that he would work with Obama if he won the election.’
‘Whilst running for re-election in 2010, Terry, who had previously been a strong supporter of privatizing Social Security, came out against it. He signed a pledge that he stated would, “oppose any effort to privatize Social Security, in whole or in part.”[18]’
‘Terry was initially a co-sponsor and supporter of the Stop Online Piracy Act. Under pressure from internet campaigns, he later rescinded his support for the bill’
‘During the United States federal government shutdown of 2013, Terry refused to give up his salary. He was asked if he would continue to collect his paychecks and replied, “dang straight”. He said that he needed his paycheck to pay for his “nice house” ‘
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Terry
‘Terry had 19,823 votes, or 54 percent, and Frei had 17,088, or 46 percent.’
‘Terry spent $900,000, according to FEC filings. Frei spent just $45,000.’

Once the primary is over it’s time to support the winner. Either that or get out of the party.

just my .02.

I don’t care for RINO’s, but when I’ve competed at anything, be it chess or tennis or boxing, once you lose, man up and congratulate the winner, no matter WHO they are.

That's why I don't vote for liberal republicans. They wind up voting the same as the liberal democrats. I won't vote for a liberal of any party.

I'm a conservative, not a republican. This is a conservative web site, not a Republican web site.

Some people don't quite get that.

Man, ain’t that the truth.

I wonder if one could even tell which party was in charge of what by a spending graph if years were not included.
