Can Conservatives believe Mitch McConnell’s gun rights promise?
redstate.com ^ | 5/15/14

You know it must be getting close to election season—and that his chance of winning isn’t looking too good—when Mitch McConnell breaks out with his rendition of “(What a) Wonderful World” (my apologies to the great Sam Cooke).

♬ Don’t know much about the GOP Don’t know much about the TEA Party Don’t know how a promise kept might look Don’t know much about the oath I took

But I do know that I love you And I know that if you love me too What a wonderful Senate this would be

Don’t know much about Kentucky I’ve spent too much time in DC Don’t know how to kill Obamacare Don’t know what a debt ceiling is for

But I know that one and one is two And if I can get a vote from you What a wonderful Senate this would be ♬

Mitch McConnell (RINO-KY) likes to make promises in order to “earn” your vote, he just doesn’t like keeping them all that much. In just the past few years alone, his record is full of promises made-promises broken.

From the article: ◾He made a promise to repeal Obamacare “root and branch” – he broke his promise when he voted to fund it. ◾He made a promise not to raise taxes – he broke his promise with the Biden-McConnell budget deal of January, 2013. ◾Following the budget deal, he made a promise to reduce spending – he broke his promise one year later when he helped pass a clean debt ceiling bill. ◾He made a promise to work on keeping spending in check – he broke his promise when he did nothing to prevent a vote on the Ryan-Murray budget compromise. ◾He promised to seriously deal with illegal immigration – he broke that promise TWICE since 2008 for political expediency, and is committing to do so again next year if the G.O.P. retakes the Senate. Of course, Mickey hasn’t lived in DC for 30 years without learning a thing or two about talking out of both sides of his mouth. As he faces some of the toughest party opposition of his career, he’s become an expert at speaking with a forked tongue: ◾He says he supports the T.E.A. Party, but when Matt Bevin received their endorsement, he called T.E.A. Party candidates “scary” while also attacking the Senate Conservatives Fund. ◾He says he’s a Conservative, but he led the decision by the National Republican Senatorial Committee to cease doing business with Jamestown Associates, in an effort to punish them for working for the Senate Conservatives Fund. ◾He says he’s a Conservative, but he supported paying $5000 per month to have US News columnist Brian Walsh work for the NRSC and provide support to his campaign by attacking the Conservative organizations mentioned above. ◾Voted against Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) Amendment to block authority under Patriot Act to obtain gun records [RC #82, 5/26/11] ◾Voted for an amendment by Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) prohibiting the sale or transfer of handguns by a licensed manufacturer, importer or dealer unless a secure gun storage or safety device is provided for each handgun. 25 Republicans and 2 Democrats voted against it. [RC #17, 02/26/04] ◾Voted for Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) amendment to spend taxpayer funds for Department of Education grants used to disseminate a gun control agenda in schools and through public service announcements. [RC #32, 03/02/00] ◾Voted for Sen. Herb Kohl (D-WI) Amendment requiring that all guns be sold with trigger locks [RC#122, 5/18/99] ◾Voted for the 1991 Crime Bill (S. 1241), sponsored by then Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE), that imposed a waiting period for handguns and a ban on 14 types of assault style weapons. [RC #125, 07/11/91] ◾Senator McConnell cut a deal with the Democrats to allow all of Obama’s second term nominees to sail through the Senate. Included in that deal was the confirmation of anti-gun zealot Todd Jones to serve as Director of the ATF.

If he told me that the month of June follows the month of May, I’d go check a calendar. I LOATHE MITCH McConnell. I don’t know why Bevin is not doing better in the Primary race. I know about the Cock Fights thing and his statement about illegal Mexicans being harder workers than American workers...... I know that... but, I can’t believe that Bitch McConnell is leading him in the polls by 30+/- percentage points, but yet, he is trailing Alison L. Grimes in the General race.

No, absolutely not. He is a liar and a back stabbing whore for sale to the highest bidder.

I vote for Bevin on Tuesday. McConnell wins the nomination and he is on his on in November. Look at his record. He is not the lesser of two evils. He is the other side of the same coin.

If we can't trust him on the 2nd Amendment, Why should we trust him of the other Amendments?
....
Fact Is: Sen(ile) "*itch" McConnell (Himself-GOP/E) has shown only faint regard for the US Constitutional
Law / BoR..and that's (only) when it inferred w/ his "prerogatives/aims"..HIS POWER/$$$$.

Friend,
My name is Larry Forgy and I am a lifelong Kentuckian. I have been involved in Kentucky's Republican Party for decades.
I ran for Governor of Kentucky on the Republican ticket in 1995, and I served as the Kentucky Chairman for both of Ronald
Reagan's successful presidential elections. I used to be a proud supporter of Senator Mitch McConnell.
However, in recent years, I have become disappointed in the senator's voting record.
His current record is in stark
contrast to the constitutional principles upon which he was elected, and for which I originally supported him.

That's why, in the upcoming primary on May 20th, I am supporting Matt Bevin for U.S. Senate, and I am writing to urge you to
support him also. It is time to retire Mitch McConnell. I can no longer be silent.
Warm Regards,
Larry Forgy

No. But all the money, special favors, promises and threats that the corrupt McConnell has/is making are going to be awfully hard for Matt Bevin to overcome.

Not a word he says. He my vote the way the NRA tells him but behind the scenes you know he is organizing the McCain/Graham traitors to stick it to gun owners.

Mitch is on his own come November. I have NEVER voted for a democrat but if the GOPE keeps up their attacks on conservatives I make have to make an exception to this rule.
