I think the urgent push for amnesty by Boehner and the Republican left is an effort to get it off the table before Jeb starts his campaign. They know amnesty is a losing issue for the campaign, and centrist conservatives will beat their golden boy over the head with it.
Jeb cares more about illegals than he does jobless Americans, and he knows that won’t sit well with voters. If he can run on the premise that amnesty is a done deal that he didn’t have a vote for, some of the pressure is off.

I think you give the GOP-e too much credit for stategery. Bottom line is the Chamber of Commerce is giving tons of money to anyone who supports amnesty, and vows to spend money to defeat any Pub candidate who runs in the primaries against amnesty, even if that means supporting a Democrat in November. It’s all about the money.
