“Red Lobster needs to stop selling codfish, formed and flavored to taste like lobster and crab.”

Huh??? If you know that why don’t others know that? Where are the lawsuits?

I’ve never been to a Red Lobster so I have no opinion on the chain.

.

Red Lobster needs to stop selling codfish, formed and flavored to taste like lobster and crab.

Yup—I like Baja Fresh also, but they are not around here, unfortunately.

Part of my problem is that I like jalapenos and Louisiana hot sauce and all sorts of spicy things, but dislike the flavor of chipotle peppers.

i love spicy too! serrano chilis are my favorite! i absolutely do NOT like chipotle peppers... can't stand chipotle sauce or salsa... too smokey for my taste... :)

Prices too high,Servings too small.I wont pay 16.00 for 6 small shrimp.Quality is lacking as well and service is slow.Red Lobster used to be a great place to go.They used to have an admirals platter that could feed 2 people and you would still take home leftovers. Now I feel like I ordered from the childrens menu.
Chipoltle is fast food done right. Not to be compared to Red Lobster. The food is made fresh to your order while you watch. They sell burritos not seafood so why the comparison?

You want good seafood, dont go to Red Lobster. It used to be good, but not any more.

Get your seafood at your local store and do it yourself.

Panera is great company. They donate extra baked goods to the Salvation Army food pantries. It’s always the first stuff to go.

I think Panera’s is a bigger problem for them.

I agree. A Panera went in close by about a year ago. That place is PACKED at lunchtime. Panera is what middle class people that want good food quick go to. I like their onion soup.

Good cooking is a scientific art form, and must be practiced to achieve culinary bliss.

I'm still practicing.

We had a gift card for Red Lobster, so we went. We paid through the nose for overpriced mediocre food. The local Greek diner had the same fish for a fraction of the price and it is much better tasting. Red Lobster? No thanks.

The combination of restaurant review websites directing people to non-chain eateries and more people wanting to cook at home is hurting a lot of restaurant chains.

Indeed, I think very soon McDonald's may roll out a back to basics menu eliminating most of their specialty sandwiches and emphasizing more the Big Mac and Quarter Pounder at lower prices to draw in customers. After all, In-N-Out have done VERY well with their simple menu selections (few people use their famous "secret menu").

Seafood is very bad for everyone these days, with mercury & whatnot (nuclear waste from Japan) in it.....And I didn’t know MO was endorsed by the garden where I guess they grow the olives...won’t be eating there. Or Subway either (aw, come on, they just ditched the yoga mat bread!).
Very close to starting over on my diet & eating “clean” - no processed foods. Saw a post on Facebook where a doctor has kept an order of McDonalds on her counter since 2011. And it has not decayed. ewwwww.

Red Lobster has a tough problem. They have a loyal, but old, following that doesn't want change. If they update the menu and remodel their stores, they could alienate these loyal customers. If they don't, they will never attract a new demographic. Even if they do, they may not attract a new customer base. It's a lose, lose.

The bankers will probably close the unprofitable stores, cut costs wherever they can, and run the stores for the cash for as long as they can. Red Lobster is about to become much smaller.

The problem with Red Lobster is the problem with other gigantic restaurant chains like Chili’s.

Their cooking is microwave oven based. Most dishes are prepared and frozen at distribution centers, trucked in, and microwaved before serving.

That’s why a lot of it doesn’t even taste like real food.

For mid-price dining, you have a better chance of getting something prepared from scratch in the kitchen if you eat at a non-chain local coffee shop, one that still employs experienced short order cooks. (Although where I live, plenty of local restaurants have discovered giant bags of cheap frozen shortcuts from Costco.)

“I have found that most of my dining out experiences are less than satisfactory these days for one reason or another: food isn’t good, service is lousy, price too high, plus our locale now has added a “meals tax” ....”

Ditto. Plus I’m a VERY good cook, PLUS I’m a stickler for fresh, wholesome, high-quality ingredients.
