Sort of, but not exactly. Shin was appointed to reward him for giving Bush the finger over Iraq war strategy. As far as I know, Bush never gave an opinion of Shin (too classy for that), so firing him wouldn’t exactly prove Bush “right”, but I get your point. Shin is “one of us” as far as the left is concerned, and therefore must be protected....until he’s no longer useful, that is.

In many respects, to walk into many VA centers today is to walk into the 1950s, as staffers push paper amid crowded waiting rooms and facilities in disrepair.

VA essentially has become a stodgy federal jobs program...

Shameful.

I agree. I was pretty upset when they made me replace my cool BDU caps with a piece of black wool. The berets were worse than worthless as a piece of gear.

Unless things have changed, Stars and Stripes doesn’t have editorial positions. Their op-ed page is just a mix of syndicated columnists and articles from various sources.
