More workers hired to process Obamacare applications are revealing how they've been filling their days sleeping, playing board games, reading, or fighting with each other on many days when there was little or no work.
"I walk out every day feeling as if I have contributed nothing," a worker from the London, Ky., Serco facility told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Thursday.
A former worker at a processing center in Wentzville, Mo., processing facility, Lavonne Takatz, said she and other workers played games or slept because there was nothing for them to do. She and other workers said company and government supervisors knew they were being paid to do little or no work at all.
“We played Pictionary. We played 20 Questions. We played Trivial Pursuit,” said Takatz, who worked at Serco's Wentzville center from October through April.
In some cases, the boredom led to gossiping and fights, former employees said. Monica Colvin, who worked in Wentzville's facility until January, said co-workers pushed her and unplugged her computer, and eventually she she had to visit a doctor for anxiety and depression.

When I worked on Future Combat System (FCS) it was the largest Army procurement in history. We had no documentation but to stay on the “spend” plan, on which corporate bonuses were based, we hired dozens of people towards the end of each year. Because we had no documentation they had nothing to do but play computer games. This went on for three years. Thank God they finally cancelled this farce. But being paid to do nothing is very common in government work.

I once worked for a private company that bought out a gov’t contract for transtporting sick patients.
The lady who trained me took 8hrs to do her paperwork. After a few months I had it down to 1.5hrs.
Read the rest of the day. Heck the supv was an idiot.

Back in the 80s, a friend graduated from engineering school and went to "work" for the Army Materials and Mechanics Research Center in Watertown, MA. He described a similar work ethic. People slept at their desks or did crossword puzzles all day. To quote, "if the place burned down tomorrow, no one would notice."
At about that time Reagan was threatening to close it down. The local coverage was predictable, including an interview with Tip O'Neill who described it as a "vital" facility.
Anyway, the place was finally closed down, and... drum roll please... no one noticed.

I saw one of the women mentioned above being interviewed by Greta tonight on Fox. The woman described herself as being excited to take the job, since she thought Obamacare would benefit the country. (No, I don't know what to do about adults like this). But she became very disillusioned when she discovered that the operation was a scam. When Greta asked her why she quit, she replied, "I have a conscience."
Too bad more government "workers" don't.

The screaming need and justification for prohibiting this is the best argument for 'zero-based budgeting'. But even this is meaningless until these additional things are made mandatory :
No service, equipment or supply purchase may be made that is not actually used during the subsequent quarter.
In other words, no 'warehousing' or hoarding for future 'excess inventory sales.'
Violation of the new rule shall constitute a criminal violation of law, Punishable to the highest responsible party approving the spending, whether by actual signature or robo-signature.
This generations-old practice is among the top three drivers of inflation, over which working, non-public employee productive Americans have absolutely no control. But they certainly pay the price! Compounded forever!
