Ever since the emergence of the tea party in 2009, the media narrative has been pre-written and ready to deploy at opportune times. Embodying the intense frustrations of ordinary Americans with so-called limited-government Republicans who were forever raising taxes, increasing spending, and incurring more debt, the tea party demanded that their representatives keep their promises, and adhere to principle over politics. Otherwise, when the next election cycle rolled around, they would be fully prepared to throw the bums out.
Not only did this seismic shift ruffle the feathers of Democrats and those who wanted to expand government in perpetuity, it left many establishment Republicans, who had long enjoyed their unchallenged incumbency, understandably peeved. The response was swift and brutal.
You tea party whacko birds are ruining the Party. You’re handing the elections to Democrats. How dare you challenge incumbents in primaries? After all, whose side are you really on?
We’ve heard it over and over again, repeated ad nauseum in the echo chamber that is the mainstream media, even as we’ve scored amazing victories and elected some of the most incredible, principled candidates the Congress has seen in generations.
One of these figures is a young congressman from Michigan named Justin Amash. Steeped in the ideology of Austrian economics and a true belief in limited government, Amash has arguably been the single most principled, pro-liberty voice in the House of Representatives. You would think that the Republican Party would be proud to have so fiery an advocate for all the things they claim to stand for.
You would think wrong.
In fact, the Republican establishment in Michigan is lining up against Amash, along with big business and special interest lobbies, attempting to unseat the congressman who has fought more bravely than any other, in favor of just another traditional politician.

The GOP would be more effective if they challenged in democrat districts even if they’re unwinnable. Even token candidates that force democrats to spend money would be a better use of money. It would be a lot better than dumping tons of money into chamber of commies backed open borders chamber maidens.
If this isn’t evidence that most of the “Republicans” are just actors mouthing marketing slogans so they can get elected to the UniParty, don’t know what is.

I have been preaching that to the Local Republican Committees for years. All politics start at the ward level and future leaders start there and are winnowed out as they move up.
In NH it doesn’t cost a lot of money to start and work your way up through State Rep Level.
These are top down candidates backed by the chamber of commerce running against people who actually put in the work like Bentivolio and Amash.
I haven’t really looked at the guy running against Amash but Dave Trott is running against Kerry Bentivolio on some pretty thin soup. Trott doesn’t even mention immigration on his campaign page.
Here is a guy the GOP should back in the race against Debbie Dingell instead of ignoring him.

He’s a conservative UAW worker who was the single most vocal non politician supporter of RTW in Michigan. He’s also traveled around the country to speak in favor of RTW elsewhere including Capitol Hill testimony against union political activities.

We have voter ID that just went in to full effect in our yearly local elections, we will see how this works out, before I go on the war path again.
I don't know enough about Brian Ellis to have an opinion one way or the other. If he's a Vern Ehlers type, I'd rather see Amash win. If he's a Tim Walberg type, I hope he wins.

The House on Friday passed a bill to approve construction of the Keystone XL pipeline hours after a Nebraska court ruled in favor of the proposed route. The legislation now goes to the Senate, where it is expected to be approves. The White House has warned President Obama would veto the legislation. Passage fell largely along party lines, 266-153, with 28 Democrats joining nearly all Republicans in favor. Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) voted "present."
