Ben Carson, the famed neurosurgeon who delivered a bold speech critical of President Barack Obama at least years National Prayer Breakfast, is reportedly warming up to the idea of a presidential run.
Carson told the Weekly Standard this week that hes starting to feel a tug to possibly run for national office, highlighting the intense response he gets when he travels around the nation speaking about contemporary issues.
He spoke specifically about a woman whom he said truly touched him when she implored him to seek the presidency. She just kept clinging to my hand and said, You have to run. You have to run, Carson told the Weekly Standards Fred Barnes. And so many people tell me that, and so I think Im starting to hear something.
But Carson said hes fully aware that running for president is no easy feat.
Its a daunting thing, he said. I know how vehemently the left will come after you, try to destroy you, try to destroy your family.
Carson continued, But at the same time I recognize that people like Nathan Hale he said, My only regret is I have but one life to give to my country
and if everybody runs for the hills because theyre afraid that somebody is going to attack them or their family, then [the left] will have won.

I would prefer Ben Carson to Mitt Romney.
I would ask him how he feels about Detroit’s justifiable homicide “problem” that a Detroit politician recently complained about.
How about Anne Coulter as the POTUS spokeswoman so she can get really snippy with the urinalists that show up to the press briefings? Watch the fur fly daily!
Yeah, I know, she’s not welcome here on FR, but she would the focus of so much “news” because she wouldn’t take any crap from them and just fling it right back.
Why don’t you post the rest of what he said.
“Asked by Beck for his thoughts on the Second Amendment, Carson gave the popular pro-gun argument: Theres a reason for the Second Amendment; people do have the right to have weapons.
But when asked whether people should be allowed to own semi-automatic weapons, the doctor replied: It depends on where you live.
I think if you live in the midst of a lot of people, and Im afraid that that semi-automatic weapon is going to fall into the hands of a crazy person, I would rather you not have it, Carson elaborated.”
Do not try and hood wink me, son, I ain’t no fool.
I like him, hit the mediawhores will eat him alive.
A brain surgeon vs a filthy lawyer.Or vs a fake Indian.Should be fun.
Nope. Carson seems like a nice guy, but he has not been vetted, and a presidential race is not to place to do it.
Remember Herman Cain? I liked him a lot when he was running. Then women started coming out of the woodwork, and he folded his campaign.
Have Carson run for Mayor of Detroit or Chicago against the Dem machine, or better yet run for Gov in a competitive state against a Dem incumbent. If the Dem mud machine fails to find anything, THEN he can run for higher office.
This is why I like somebody like Scott Walker: the Dems hate him so much that if there was any dirt, they would have used it by now.
Run Ben. You are needed.
Being a former paratrooper and Viet Nam veteran, I do know the difference between a semi-auto and a machine gun. With my two cells in a raw...I still would support Dr. Carson.
What’s your rational for confiscating most of the handguns in circulation?
I like Walker he’s done a great job in WI, but he does not seem to be an exciting candidate. We need someone with broad appeal...without the independent vote we will never win.
I would never advocate confiscating guns...except perhaps from proven criminals or insane people.
Where they hide one’s past and they exploit anothers, doesnt matter in this case if he’s black, remember herman caine!
So you want to phase-out the sale of new semi-autos to the peasants, and grandfather-in the ones already owned by the them?
I like Ben Carson, but he isn’t presidential material. He is valuable right where he is.
Walker does present his views effectively, for example this Scott walker interview.
You can tell he has some people on the GOPe side worried, considering that fake story about Walker and gun control that was a thread on FR a couple of weeks back.
I don’t even buy the BS about keeping guns out of the hands of criminals anymore. Nothing more than feel good laws that do nothing but keep tabs on people who can legally own guns.
I just think there’s a difference between what he thinks and what he knows is Constitutional, or what he’d try and have changed once president. It’s easy to fall into the “he’s not *my* perfect candidate” trap, if you do you’ll be waiting a loooong time and be disappointed every time along the way.
I’d doubt that he’d do anything aggressive about gun control, although I’d like to hear it from him.
