Russian media used shots of Ukrainian peacekeeping operation two years ago in their report about Donbas.
Russian media reported false information about the anti-terrorist operation in Donbas, using video recording, which was almost two years old to compromise Ukrainian helicopters in Slovyansk. This information is provided by the regional media centre of the MoD of Ukraine in Chernigiv on Friday, 17th of May. Reports Correspondent.
Some Russian media (channel Vesti) were reporting that helicopters with symbols of the United Nations were taking part in the anti-terrorist operation. In reality, on the video is the Ukrainian peacekeeping operation in Congo, which was two year ago, said is the statement.

It was also reported that the Russian Foreign Ministry demanded UN to investigate use of helicopters with the UN symbols in Ukraine.

In war, the first casualty is the truth.
Is CNN supplying images again ?
In fact, I thought the UN noticed it first.
Wait and see.
I had told some of the lying Putinists when they were “reporting” on this with their vile trash on FR that the Russian media had also been falsifying images to place “American mercenaries” into Ukraine. Not surprising then that this also would end up as fraud, as with most things that come out of the Russian media.
The Kremlin is actively running an intense disinformation campaign from all quarters against Ukraine and the United States. This alone tells us that, even though Putin did not act on the pseudoreferendum, we are not yet out of the woods for invasion. He is dehumanizing his enemy and preparing the field of public opinion with his propaganda.
You're one of the most vile haters of Ukrainians on this forum, so, naturally, you would misremember something like that. You're free to post the link to the original story shared here on FR and quote the relevant portion that supports your claim of the "UN" noticing it. If not, stop spreading Putin's rumors on the forum.
“Hmmm....I’m betting that Russia has proof on the ground that Ukraine indeed is/was using copters from a previous peacekeeping mission and did not remove the symbols.
In fact, I thought the UN noticed it first.”
No, you are simply disseminating disinformation assisting the Putin regime to commit crimes.
This particular Putinist once declared that “The Ukrainians are all thieves. They have failed as an independent nation.”
Sacajaweau’s bigotry borders on the psychotic, literally declaring a whole nationality as unworthy of freedom or of possessing the right to their own country.
This is an example of how bad demoralization and depravity can get.
A reasonable approach in this situation.
Thank you for posting this, WhiskeyX.
I find it hard to believe (actually I don’t) that there are some so easily fooled by dissemination of propaganda. I correspond with a doctor in St. Petersburg, and she called propaganda on Putin before Crimea was seized.
This piece of the “UN helicopter” was a jumping of the shark, easily refuted. One of the sad things about propaganda is that a lie can live a long time, even when destroyed. The proof always seems to get buried, and is never exposed as much as the propaganda.
Again, thank you for posting this. Also, thanks to Greetings_Puny_Humans.
Governments in concert with the media have made Edward Bernays type propaganda the backbone of their disinformation campaign to influence and incite public opinion.
Russia does not have any exclusivity on this as most corrupt manipulative sophisticated governments (including our own) regularly use it.
As you may recall, the official Crimean election results, as reported widely in the Western press, showed a 97 percent vote in favor of annexation with a turnout of 83 percent. No international observers were allowed. The pro-Russia election pressure would have raised the already weak vote in favor of annexation, of course.Yesterday [May 6th], however, according to a major Ukrainian news site, TSN.ua, the website of the President of Russias Council on Civil Society and Human Rights (shortened to Presidents Human Rights Council) posted a report that was quickly taken down as if it were toxic radioactive waste. According to this purported report about the March referendum to annex Crimea, the turnout of Crimean voters was only 30 percent. And of these, only half voted for the referendummeaning only 15 percent of Crimean citizens voted for annexation.
