“There is no cure for this disease. Treatment is alleviating symptoms as much as possible. There is no medicine for it. If your own body cant fight the virus well enough, you die.
There is no cure for the common cold or influenza or pneumonia either. Your statement shows a lack of understanding of modern medicine. MOST all of modern medicine is symptomolgy treatment.
The people who are dying lack such treatment. This is exactly the pattern of SARS.
My point is and always has been that this is yet again another HYPED by media scare that is not justified. And by the way I know of no cure (as you put it) that modern medicine can offer to anyone infected by any virus. Antibiotics are only good against bacterial infections
I am not insulting any one. I am asking people to use their rational mind and not to fall for media driven hype over something that is not nearly what the papers and news are saying it is.
I never said anything was fool proof. There are plenty of diseases that folks get that have NO vaccine for them. And for myself I would not take any vaccine against something like this in the first place.
Be concerned for your parents but this is not the thing to be concerned about. They are more likely to fall and break a hip or develop a pneumonia than they are to ever get exposed to MERS. All I am suggesting to people is to place your concerns in the appropriate area....else wise you will fall for another swine flu shot
“There is no cure for the common cold or influenza or pneumonia either. Your statement shows a lack of understanding of modern medicine. MOST all of modern medicine is symptomolgy treatment.”
You are incredibly wrong. There are vaccines for various flues and there is a vaccine for pneumonia as my husband had to have it every two years.
your knowledge of vaccines and the human body is very confused. There are multiple types (causes) of pneumonia. The vaccines that are made each year for the various influenzas are dicey at best.
Those vaccines are NOT cures. The pneumonia vaccine is more effective than most influenza vaccines. And prey tell me when someone comes down with these diseases anyway what is it that modern medicine does??? They treat symptoms. Do you not understand that modern medicine treats symptoms??? We have wonderful machines (breathers and dialysis) that help. We have sterile environments in hospitals. We can keep people isolated to mi of particular minimize transmission of diseases. We can keep patients cool if their temperature gets too high and bring it down some with analgesics.
All that being said not a one of those things is a ‘cure’. There is NO CURE for viral infections. The body can be helped to fight that is it. It is like healing a broken bone.....medicine provides the body help but it is the body that heals the broken bone.
The sad thing is you actually think that a ‘flu shot’ will actually cure you of the common cold.
“The sad thing is you actually think that a flu shot will actually cure you of the common cold.”
I didn’t say that, you just did. Tell you what, it’s your body so you use your own judgment to keep it alive and I’ll do the same. I was a licensed EMT so I trust myself to do the right thing for my body. I’m done with this conservation.

Yes you did say it.

You’re Welcome, Alamo-Girl!
But, here's the thing...
YOU wouldn't take a government approved vaccine for MERS, BUT you expect me to take your word, or the CDCs?
Dude, you can't have it both ways.
And, as much as I love the idea of thought police, (in case you don't recognize it that's SARCASM) you ain't it.
Last time I looked my mind, was actually...MINE!
I can think, ponder, WORRY, be CONCERNED, ect...about anything I damn well see fit.
There is NO vaccine for MERS..... yoou show nothing but your own ignorance
I didn’t say there was a vaccine, YOU however said IF there was one you would not take it...
Ignorant? Hardly.
You on the other hand...
I believe the word is...TROLL!
You have managed to put words in my mouth that were never said. You really do lack reading comprehension. And to resort to calling names shows a lack on your part....for a so called MENSA member, I am underwhelmed.
For the record all one has to do is take their test. I found the gatherings dull as all get out

Your own words kiddo. Keep it up, your only making yourself look more stupid.
And for the record, I never said I ENJOYED Mensa, I simply said I was a member.
They are for the most part some of the dryest people you’ll ever talk to.
And since you are so swift, kiddo, you might have guessed that I too took the test and got my little yellow pin
and that’s probably why I’ve enjoy our discussions.
We have had a round or two. I am not an anti vaccer by the by just not going to take ones that do not have a real purpose. If I was immune compromised I would most likely take the pneumonia shot still not so convinced of the flu vaccines. Took one once when I had to for college back during the hong kong flu days. Haven’t been that sick ever. Causal??? Not necessarily but it made me leary
I know folks who take flu vaccines every year for their work and they seem to do fine. They are normally healthy folks so who knows if it helped prevent them from getting ill.
Anyway it has been fun
