“We are going to have order on that bus one way or another,” Dick Mullenax, a member of the Polk County school board, said. “We provide transportation to those schools, but if they can’t behave, we will see where we go from there.” …

Alternative schools?

How about reform schools and chain gangs, instead.

These are called “alternative behavioral management schools”, so it looks to me like a watered-down version of the reform school.

Why have armed guards when you only have to throw the violent punks off?

When I think of the word “deputy” I think of a county deputy sheriff. What kind of “armed deputies” are they talking about? The school board can’t “order” the county to put deputies on their busses.

With that said, it won’t be worth the time and money unless they have the authority to do what needs to be done.

Why bother. They won’t let them shoot them. We had marines for bus drives when I was a kid. They usually just cared a side arm.

They are not guards. Even the title says that.

Why are we paying to attempt to school children who refuse to behave or learn?

Just EXPEL THEM AND THAT’S THAT!

No deputies. No fights on the bus. No scared students or teachers.

What’s the difference? They’re out on the street causing havok when they aren’t in school. So at least they won’t ALSO be IN the schools causing havok.

They’ll either end up dead, in jail, or they’ll decide to try to turn their lives around later and get a GED on their own when THEY decide they want it.

What shred of “education” can possibly be happening at any point during the day when right off the bat you have a bus that’s too dangerous to ride?

I read stuff like this and then think back to my early school days and riding the bus.... It’s as though we have gone through some kind of wormhole and landed on an evil alternate Earth.

Such goings-on seem impossible.

Obamaland is an evil alternate reality and we now live in it.

Regarding your post #12, I totally agree with you. There is no need to try to educate children who don’t want to be educated. I would add that these children (and children in a lot of other school situations) likely are not educable, i.e., too unintelligent.

This retired teacher could not agree with you more.

There should be no place in schools for students who do not want to be there. During my unfortunate year as a public school teacher, 90% of my instructional time was taken up with addressing the poor behavior of 10% of my students. The other students were cheated out of their education by the delinquents.
