Blogger arrested for sneaking into Thad Cochran’s wife’s nursing home room

If the allegations prove true – and the initial evidence seems pretty compelling – this will turn out to be yet another story of a blogger going off the rails and doing the wrong thing in pursuit of a story. According to recently breaking reports, blogger Clayton Thomas Kelly of Mississippi crossed all bounds of propriety by entering the nursing home room of the wife of Senator Thad Cochran (R-Mississippi) and photographing her for use in a political story.

A Pearl man who runs a political blog is accused of sneaking into a nursing home where U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran’s wife is bedridden and photographing her, then posting the image in a video political “hit piece” on the internet.

Madison Police arrested Clayton Thomas Kelly, 28, of Pearl on Friday night on a charge of exploitation of a vulnerable adult. He’s being held on a $100,000 bond.

The information still missing at the time of this posting is precisely which “local political blog” posted the information (with the Name of Cochran’s wife, I assume), since the local media didn’t have that detail until the next morning. The missing piece here – and this is purely speculation at this point – could be that the “local blog” in question was, in fact, Kelly’s blog. Since everyone seems to agree that the information had been posted there, and then removed, I suppose that’s possible. Of course, it would require a bit of luck on the part of McDaniel’s campaign manager to have just managed to catch the post on the blog between the time it was published and then pulled, but given the tendency of campaign workers to constantly monitor Google alerts for anything mentioning their opponent’s name, it’s not beyond the realm of the possible. (See Update below.)

If this claim about the phone message and its timing turns out to be true, it adds an entirely new element to the story, but we still need to hear from Sojourner, who isn’t commenting on it yet. If she did, in fact, know about this before the police released any details, including the identity of Cochran’s wife, somebody has some explaining to do and McDaniel will have to be on top of this immediately.

UPDATE: (Jazz) The local blogger reporting on this story is saying that the offending video / pictures were posted either “two weeks ago” or April 26th, depending who you ask, so if that’s the case, the McDaniel camp couldn’t have found it in the way I surmised. Curiouser and curiouser, to quote one fable.

I’m not getting what the blogger wanted to do with Cochran’s information about his wife.

It’s despicable, but I dont’ get it.

From another article about this, it seems that senator Cochran is living with another woman while his wife is in a nursing home. Could be the blogger wanted to expose the affair and publish a picture of his wife along with the article.

Low-class effing fool.

I hope he does at least a little bit of time for this intrusion.

Ah, if that’s the case I get it.

I do think it’s despicable he would invade her privacy like that. Giving such an expose wouldn’t have needed a picture.

I also think the senator is scum if he’s doing that to his wife.

Since Cochrane is a Repub, what are the odds the “blogger” is a lefty?

Pretty slim, as Cochran is the lefty in this primary.

The blogger is conservative, the question is if this blogger is connected to his primary opponent.

The opponent in this primary race is Chris McDaniel, who has ties to the Tea Party. The blogger in question has stated support of McDaniel.

McDaniel has emphatically denied any association with the blogger. To my way of thinking, this is the last kind of publicity that any candidate would want for his campaign.

The blogger may or may not be a conservative but one thing he is definitely not is a gentleman.

Nor is he very smart.

In fact he’s the kind of guy you wish would go play for the other team.

His wife has been in this state for over fourteen years, incapacitated since early dementia started at 58. I don’t advocate what he did, but I can understand the healthy partner still needed to manage his life. I personally know of some couples where both are aware, after an onset of a chronic illness, that from this point forward, they won’t be able to full their spousal duties, and have given consent to the healthy spouse to discreetly go ahead. Every couple is different.

As was explained to me, wannabes and hangers-on gravitate to campaigns. They’re tolerated, because if you tell somebody to get lost, then you have an ex-hanger-on with a grudge against you, and nobody has time for that in the middle of a campaign. Sometimes they’re helpful, occasionally they’re a nuisance, and once in a while one of them has a bright idea to “help,” and something like this happens.

I dunno. This is the kind of thing “seminar Republicans” (I’ve been a Republican all my life, but...) who are really Dems in disguise do. This one’s even a twofer: He claims to associate with the Tea Party candidate, and so smears him with being sleazy, and at the same time “exposes” the Mainstream GOPe candidate as a two-timer.

This one’s really a case of “cui bono”, and only a lefty/Dem could benefit from this guy pulling a stunt like this.

“...wannabes and hangers-on gravitate to campaigns....”
********************************************************************

The stupid blogger is not part of anyone’s campaign. And the only folks making use of his stupidity are the local supporters of the GOPe, RINOs and their Washington DC based supporters.

An example of this is the above linked article itself...along with similar articles your friend Google will help you find. The thing they all seem to have in common is that they are spreading innuendo about the McDaniel campaign.

This has the smell of Rove and the NRSC all over it. They must not like some of the internals of some polling they’ve seen and are worried about the possibilities of their puppet Cochran not doing well.

“...in sickness and in health, until death us do part.”

Cochran has a duty and an obligation to be faithful and constant to his wife until the end, no matter how long in coming. Married couples are of one body, mind, and soul, despite difficult circumstances. There is no “permission” to move on and commit adultery.

If true what the blogger did, it’s despicable. Equally despicable if Cochran has taken up with another woman — unfit for public service, if so.
