That whole cord thing is weird.
I did graduate Friday and I did have a gold tassel (3.5 or higher) and a gold cord (4.0).
But I didn’t have a Vet Cord, a red, white and blue cord, worn by Veterans even though I’m retired Military.
Seems I “wasted” my life working like a dog since I retired and my GI Bill benefits expired so I paid cash. At my school only those Vets receiving benefits were authorized the Vet core. Oh, well. It must make sense to somebody somewhere.
Was there black cords?
well that is the ivory tower idiocy from academia, a stinking morass of bee ess that only if you sucked at the government trough would you get acknowledged for being a veteran
Naval Academy does not have any of this. We have our Graduation on Friday. However, the poor Midshipmen have to listen to Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel. I think I would rather them have to wear weird cords then have to listen to him drone on. We have no choice on who speaks. Four different “leaders” switch every four years and the political party makes no difference. Two years ago, we had President Obama.
