Time to Stop the War on Inequality
American Thinker ^ | 05/18/2014 | John Horvat II

Posted on 05/18/2014 6:30:35 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

Advocates of equality are only too eager to overthrow the present economic structures in the name of fairness and opportunity. According to their logic, inequality begets a two-tiered society where moneyed interests rule, while all others languish. In this oversimplified ever richer/ever poorer scenario, some kind of action is deemed necessary to level the playing field. Hence, the need for a war on inequality.

This war has taken on a new emphasis with the recent bestseller, Capital in the Twenty-First Century by Thomas Piketty. The author claims that while capitalism is an excellent tool to allocate resources, it is grossly insufficient when allocating income.

Naturally, the leveling instrument of choice is the government. Only government has the size, power and capacity to tax and regulate the richness out of the rich. It need not take all riches, but rather focus upon the “excessively” rich -- whatever that means.

“Inequality” is just code for “I take what you have and give it to the guy that doesn’t - and I get to skim off the top”

“Capital in the Twenty-First Century by Thomas Piketty”

I wonder if Mr. Piketty, against capitalism as he is, distributes his books for free, and refuses and income from their sale?

Two major things people like Piketty always miss are: 1. Attempted homogenization of society always leads to a lower common denominator than existed before homogenization. 2. Socialism/communism always leads to a tiered society - containing the ‘homogenized masses’ and the politically connected who live much, much better than the masses.

If every one was equal, there would be no one with enough money to hire you dummies.

One of the causes of “class” inequality the liberals don’t talk about - middle and upper class families are more likely to be married, lower class almost never are.
Around a quarter of the household income gap is simply the difference between a single working mother and a married couple’s income.

Ironically, they pursue their own “enlightened self interest” by denying others their right to pursue same.

Excuse my rant, but whenever the "white privilege" sneering starts up on tv, I hit the remote button. Such persons want all the benefits of privileges whites have worked for, sweated for and earned, without any of the obligations to behave appropriately, tell the truth, respect your parents, stay in school, get good grades, keep your pants zipped or your legs closed, marry before spawning, learn to speak without cursing, respect others, avoid violence, be on time, follow rules, maintain your residence, discipline your children and exchange simple courtesies in public. These are just some of the high expectations white parents traditionally demanded of their children in exchange for privileges. Some families even sent their kids to cotillion to learn good social manners.

After a lifetime of mentoring younger people at work, and steady support for racial civil rights, I lately find that if I give any hints or supportive coaching to a young black employee, there is an explosive rant to the manager about racism. They can even steal my belongings, but if I ask for them back, I'm racist. I'm sick and tired of it.

As humans, we are part of nature, whether we like it or not.Capitalism mimics nature in that the strong survive. Any alternative system is unnatural and therefore doomed to failure. We cannot escape the fact that we are part of a natural system as sure as the bears in Yellowstone. By fostering dependency we are “feeding the bears”. That doesn’t mean that we provide safety nets for the week, sick, old, infirm. Hardly anyone would argue with that. The very people who argue against capitalism require that billionaires sponsor their dubious economic plans.

Income is earned, not allocated. In the real world Income is determined by output.
There, problem solved.

Friedrich Nietzsche : The doctrine of equality! There exists no more poisonous poison: for it seems to be preached by justice itself, while it is the end of justice.
