...Obama is encountering an increasingly resistant Democratic caucus on Capitol Hill, as lawmakers in his party break with him on a series of issues in the run-up to the November elections.
On issues such as judicial nominees, the Keystone XL pipeline, taxes and trade, the fraying party unity is a sign that individual Democrats have reached a point where their own re-election needs take precedence over Mr. Obama's goals.
It is a common election-year posture for lawmakers from the same party as the sitting president, especially one whose popularity has waned, as Mr. Obama's has. But Democrats' recent moves to demonstrate their independence are forcing Mr. Obama to compromise on an agenda already largely opposed by Republicans. And it comes at a point in his presidency when time is running short to accomplish his goals.
In the past week, Democrats have diverged from the White House over its insistence that the cost of extending certain tax breaks due to expire should be offset with tax increases and other measures, so as not to add to the deficit.

This is pretend dissent.
They worship the Clown and his Alinsky ways. Same with Cankles.
If people knew what they are about to lose they would be camped out in front of the white house until this creep is gone.
Democrats are hard liners. They are letting King Obo lead the charge. They agree with him 100 per cent, every poisonous belief he has. The press is trying to give them cover, while downplaying the unpopularity of his agenda.
obvious racists (snark)
That’s a strange word to use.
Let his whine be his legacy.
Who are they kidding. This is the Democrat media trying to sell the lie that these Democrat office holders will stop slavishly following Barack’s Communist agenda after the election. What BS. The whole Democrat apparatus is slobbering over the prospect of Hillary carrying the Marxist torch for eight more years after BO’s term.
They’re not showing dissent, they’re just coming up for air.
After all, their mouths have been continuously attached to his posterior for the last five years.
Even scum sucking democrats need to breathe once in a while.
Not a real grappler.
They are all dumbass clowns, but it would really be fun if they had a fist fight with their dumbass clown in chief.
We sure have quite a number of WSJ subscribers on FR. Since I am not, and therefore cannot read the article, I cannot comment and find the thread of no value.
My heart is bleeding purple piss. . . . .
What if Obama s done? What if H!beast is moving in?
She’s already running. And to the right of Jeb, which is easy, still, he’s the chamber of commerce front runner.
She’s not the smartest person but she is probably the most shameless politician since Shakespeare wrote Macbeth, someone will know which life characters he modeled that on
The dems are sick of Obama. But they’ll run to her like an abused but lazy stupid freeloading woman would run to a worse but shameless, so seemingly virtuous but more evil abuser
Obama is the purest Progressive Socialist to come along since FDR, maybe ever. He’s the dream of the Democratic Socialist Party and the secret dream of many in the DemoPublican Socialist Party. The only thing either one cares about more than their political agenda is keeping their cozy political posts. Keeping themselves on the political take would be the only source of grumbling complaints by these opportunists.
actually, I think it’s true that they are dissenting. there are two facts that lead to that conclusion.
one, we have seen our reps in action, and they are a selfish and greedy lot. and two, being a congressman or senator is the most cushy job in the world. they are not going to give that up for some lofty ideal.
Absolutely! But, only until after the Nov elections. Then, back to business.
. And it comes at a point in his presidency when time is running short to accomplish his goals.
Who are they trying to kid, the damage he has done won’t
be repaired for decades, if at all.
Worst president EVER!
Do they not grasp that the GOP is DEAD if they pass it? No more "cushy jobs" for them.
They'll be out on their a$$es.
Didn’t read the article. Did they happen to mention the Obamacare, Benghazi, IRS, Fast and Furious debacles? Those are the main reasons Bambi is losing his supporters.
Better be pre election posturing just like dems in this article ‘breaking away’ from Obumbo. Otherwise yeah, they are all toast.
Frauds to the left of me, frauds to the right, here I am stuck in the middle of fraudville.
I used to believe that it was a rule because everyone did it. However, the fashion these days is exactly the opposite, reading the article would spoil the character of the nonsensical threads that have become quite the thing.
Try the ol’ google trick.
Google has an agreement with some sites to be accessible via a google search.
Simply highlight a key phrase; click for google...should be there?
Your milage may vary!
As a subscriber it always comes up for me!
You didn’t click the link, as it is a free article on wsj.com
Nice trick. However, for WSJ, it just takes you to the login page. It also popped up Foxnews which had a much longer excerpt than we are allowed to post on FR.
You must be special. I clicky the linky, both of them from FR, clickly several other linkies from other sites. No workie. Wants subscription. Perhaps I have exceeded my allotment of free stories.
The ideal personal condition is to get the perks without any risk of accountability, and that is best obtained by being in the minority party.
The dems were so exited and proud that they were making history electing the first black president. Now they want to be the first to elect a woman president. Character and experience are not a factor
Character and experience? That’s for the GOP.
Anyway, why would they start now?
I accessed it via Drudge.
The dumb-o-crats do not relise that he could care less about them, he has used them to get what he wants and after november will not be able to use them or need them anymore.
Agreed. It’s all an act to make it look like the “legislators” care and will break with their boss in the interests of the constituents they “serve”.
