Following his narrow primary win on Tuesday, Republican nominee Pete Ricketts leads his Democratic opponent Chuck Hassebrook by seven points in Nebraska’s gubernatorial race.

The latest Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey of Likely Nebraska Voters shows Ricketts picking up 47% of the vote to Hassebrook’s 40%. Five percent (5%) prefer some other candidate in the race, while eight percent (8%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

If this polling holds, the Democrats could be in for the biggest drubbing since 1994. Ouch.

I hesitate to focus on the negatives but 40% for the D? In Nebraska?

As it is with Obama’s poll numbers, I cannot fathom what those 40% are thinking - assuming they are.

7% is not a narrow lead, and the remaining 13% while not going to either also demonstrates the democrats were not even in the running. The totals wind up being 60/40 .

The big city welfare piglets and lib college imports from the Leftist realms bump this number up considerably.

Even Wyoming elected a Democrat governor within the last decade. From what I understand, he was to the right of your average midwest Republican.

Don't know enough about Nebraska politics to know if that is the case with Hassebrook, but I can tell you that the tradition of the state until very recently was to always elect one Democrat U.S. Senator to be "fair."

They may have learned the results of that lesson after the last two, Ben Nelson and Bob Kerrey, who preached conservative rhetoric before being elected then turned liberal once in office.

“Ricketts had the support of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who came to Nebraska and campaigned with him last week, as well as Sarah Palin, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan and Indiana Gov. Mike Pence.”

I doubt it.

To reach that number they might have focused most/all of the polling in Omaha and Lincoln, maybe by districts. If this is the result by cherry-picked districts then the National Socialist Democrat Party might be in worse shape than imagined.

My mother had rickets when she was a young child. (OK, that’s totally irrelevant, and only medical people will think “lack of Vitamin D” when hearing about the GOP candidate for Nebraska governor.)

It’ll be hard for dems to do their usual voter fraud bit when spread is this large...

The ‘methodology’ link reveals that Rasmussen relies on an autodialer and a recorded polling voice, in addition to so-called anonymous web surveys.

Rasmussen spin the robopolling as a positive i.e. consistency of questions presented, but what screams out to me is that 750 bored fools sat through a robopoll that specifically called during the dinner hour over a mere two days.

I don’t care what claims of accuracy they make or luck into, the methods are a joke and politicians relying on them for guidance are worse than the polling charlatans.

There was no drubbing in Nebraska in 1994. Democrat Gov. Ben Nelson won a landslide reelection and nutter Bob Kerrey similarly handily won a second Senate term. The GOP will hold what they already have here.

Unfortunately, the current Wyoming Governor (from the elite class, a member of the Hansen family), is an outright RINO.

Don’t worry, the rat has no chance to win the Senate race in NE. They probably have no chance to win the Governorship either.
