Washington, D.C. Nevada Senator Harry Reid released the following statement today on Nevadas April employment report. According to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation, the Nevada unemployment rate dropped to 8 percent.
Todays report continues to show encouraging job growth and declining unemployment in Nevada. Over 3,000 jobs were added to the Nevada economy in Aprildropping the unemployment rate to 8 percentbut despite this reassuring upward trend, there are still too many Nevadans out of work.
This week the Senate worked to pass the tax extenders legislation that would help continue Nevadas economic growth by creating jobs, strengthening the middle class, and maintaining U.S. global competitiveness. This bill included the Mortgage Forgiveness Debt Relief act which would offer relief to homeowners who otherwise would owe taxes on the debt forgiven through mortgage loan modifications. It also included incentives for renewable energy and energy efficiency to continue the $5.5 billion that has been invested in Nevadas clean energy economy. Another provision would provide a $2,400 tax credit for businesses that hire workers who have been unemployed for more than 26 weeks, of which there are 45,000 in Nevada.
The tax extenders legislation is the type of investment we should pass to improve our states economy and continue the job growth we have seen. I hope Republicans will work with us to complete it.
harry has wasted 5.5 billion of our tax dollars on "green jobs" in Nevada.
Nevada's 8% unemployment rate is second worst in the nation.
Why does the Republicans let them get away with not counting the people who wanted a job but gave up because it just costs too much money to drive all over looking for work.
The real Nevada UE rate must be over 10%
Illegals who speaks no English are who work in the casinos and hotels, making up the rooms etc.
$5.5 billion for training keno runners.
$5.5 billion for “Green Energy” cronies.
(Nevada’s 8% unemployment rate is second worst in the nation.)
Add nother 10% to the #8% to compensate for all those who would take a full time job and you have the true unemployed rate of 18% of Americans who are learning the true meaning of socialism and all it does to destroy the good enconomy we could have if the democrats would but leave America and move back to the socialist, communist, Islamic or other tyrany their forefathers fled from but they never know of. If stupid is as stupid does, democrats are the most stupid people on the earth.
Dirty Harry Reid can twist any facts.
With all the fires, I am really surprised that he hasn’t touted the ‘employment’ of more firefighters.
