Forget the White House: Marco Rubio might be lucky just to get reelected
Hot Air ^ | Myra Adams

So things don’t look so encouraging for Rubio. But he may not be seriously eyeing a White House run anyway: A high-ranking GOP party official who asked that his name be withheld told me on Monday that Jeb Bush’s people have just met with Rubio’s people and a 2016 deal was struck. If Jeb runs for president then Rubio would drop out—and “Jeb is running,” according to my well-placed source. (Alert the media!)…

Rubio knows his race will be tough since 2016 is the first time he would face a traditional two-person Senate battle. (His 2010 election was a quirky three-way race.)

I don’t mind him being reelected to the Senate, but I don’t think he is the right person for President at least at this time. Maybe in 10 years when he “grows” more conservative.

I thought he said he would only run if it was an open seat.

Some might attack West for losing a close election in Florida but I mean Rubio got the same numbers in a good year as Allen West did in an Obama year.

There are a multitude of more leftist GOPers in the US Senate than Rubio.

Rubio makes a deal with Bush.

Hope he negotiated better terms than he got from the Gang of 8 — Schumer and McCain.

If Rubio loses to Debbie Wasserman Schmutz it will be because he tried to sell conservatives a pig in an immigration reform poke.

Damn short list. I can only think of two: Jesse Helms of North Carolina and Carl Curtis of Nebraska.

Lots of Freepers may remember Helms, but I'd wager that there are damn few who remember Curtis.

I met him once in the 1970s. He was TEA Party before there was a TEA Party.

“Didn’t Reagan have to run for ~12 years before hitting the lottery?”

Reagan declared a last minute run in 1968 on the day the GOP convention opened. It wasn’t much of a run.

Jawless Jeb and El Rubio as the GOP ticket?

At that point I will have to face the fact that the USA is dead and buried.

I will de-enroll as a voter and do the best I can for my family in my remaining years.

Carl Curtis was still standing loyal to Nixon even to the end of Watergate when he resigned.

Curtis was also just about the biggest anti-LBJ great society Republican in DC.

good call. a real conservative.

Other than Amnesty, Rubio has been good, as far as I can tell.

But Amnesty is the END-GAME for the Democrats. If they get that through, they will have so many new voters, they won’t even have to bother campaigning anymore to hold TOTAL control of the federal government.

Amen! I have for decades voted against Democrat Party Candidates for President. I will NOT participate if it is Hillery and Bush. There would be no point. Democracy would be over. Is there ANY way to get through to the establishment that running Bush will get then no closer to the White House than Dole, McCain, or Romney did. A$$holes.

They like to have an appearance of legitimacy. So elections have to be held, even though the commies control everything. Once amnesty happens, they have the numbers and won’t have to cheat anymore.

Hard to tell if people are being sarcastic, nowadays!
Crist is all but unelectable.
He stands for nothing but himself.FL people know that.

Rubio...will have to move elsewhere to get another bite at the apple.Pun/suggested destination is intentional.
One and done in Florida.

I don’t know any statewide Democrat who could win against Rubio.

Rubio might face a primary challenge, but the bench in Florida for the Democrats is very, very thin. Maybe Debbie Blabber Mouth Schmuck, but she has her greedy eyes set on being Speaker of the House someday...

No kidding...but it almost does seem that Rubio wants us to forget the way he gave cover to the other 12 Republicans that voted with him...like it never happened, and instead he’s “fighting the good fight”. Hopefully enough of us are smart enough to see through that.
