Posted on 05/20/2014 6:33:21 AM PDT by SomeCallMeTim
TODAY IS PRIMARY DAY in Kentucky!!! GET OUT AND VOTE!!
A new poll out yesterday had Mitch at 48%,, Bevin at 34%, with 18% UNDECIDED!
It's POSSIBLE, IMO... that Mitch will be held under 50%. That alone would be an earthquake in the Party.
So... ALL of you registered Republicans (You have to be, to vote) Get OUT THERE, and do your DUTY!!!!
Skink? Please hit the Kentucky Ping list!
and VOTE TO GET OUT !!
Are there runoffs in Kentucky? With only two major candidates I don’t see how one would happen even if there was.
If Bevin loses, I would love to see him get over 40%!
There are, actually, FOUR candidates on the Republican Primary ballot. I don’t know who the othe two are... but, I hope they have VERY large families! :-)
Maybe the conservatives will vote and the rest stay home...turnout here in PA where I am voting today is very light...I guess around 15 percent based on what I saw this morning when I voted.
Well that’s good. So if people are pissed at Mitch but don’t like Bevin either because of Mitch’s smear campaign, they can still vent.
What has he done,
To protect We, the People
From Reid and Obama?
Does Kentucky want
SIX more years of McConnell
Bi-Partisan Horse Puckey?
I think we had this discussion, in Texas. I'm not at all interested in any symbolic loss with >X%. A loss, is a loss... and McConnell and company won't care. If he wins by 0.1%? He'll treat it like mandate and go on as if NOTHING happened.
Today, we need to hold him to 49.99%... and, in July? We need > 50%.
That's ALL that matters.
MM is the easy favorite today.
The TP’s best shot is in MS.
Bevin at least has name recognition, support from Senate Conservatives Fund and has caught the attention of national talk hosts.
Praying Midge gets under 50%.
“If he wins by 0.1%? He’ll treat it like mandate and go on as if NOTHING happened.”
Oh, you’re absolutely right. A win is a win. But a high percentage for Bevin would make Thad Cochran very nervous, and Pat Roberts, and Lamar Alexander. As well as all the worthless moderates with piss poor voting records who are up for reelection in 2016.
There’s always another election. And good showings means more money for challengers. The Establishment wants the Tea Party crushed and their funding sources eliminated.
We are a hardy, free-born race,
Each man to fear a stranger;
Whateer the game, we join in chase,
Despising toil and danger.
And if a daring foe annoys,
Whateer his strength and forces,
Well show him that Kentucky boys
Are alligator horses.
Oh Kentucky, The Voters of Kentucky!
We are already seeing anti-Grimes tv ads, sponsored by Mitch.
I think, either Bevin or McConnell will beat Grimes in November. She's a milk-toast loser. But, I agree that Bevin would have an easier time of it.
Grimes will beat him in November. It will be a disaster for the GOPe, but WE will be blamed for DARING to challenge him
I don’t think we had 18% undecided, either. That’s a big plus for Bevin.
This could be a GREAT day for the Tea Party!!
SHOULD be the favorite... but, you never know till the voting's done.
I swear... around where I live? I have not seen ONE SIGN, or bumper sticker for McConnell. Not a single one.
Meanwhile, there are several very large Bevin signs posted at key locations... and, just in the past two weeks, I've seen a dozen or more Bevin bumper stickers.
Of course, mines been on my car for 6 weeks or so... Mostly, parked at the Louisville airport, near the 3rd floor elevators. :-)
I'll be phone banking this afternoon.
Seriously! After 30 years? WHO is undecided about Mitch??
My wife and I will be out voting for Matt this afternoon. This will be our first time voting in KY as we recently moved to the state.
Let’s hold Mitch under 50%... or better yet get Bevin over 50%. =P
Especially on polling day!
I agree, 90% of signs that I’ve seen are for Bevin...but I think that’s because MM is so entrenched and Bevin needs to get name recognition.
MM is playing really dirty too, claiming that Bevin lied on his resume (linked in profile) among other stuff..if you didn’t do your own research you would think Bevin was a scumbag from the way that MM portrays him in radio and TV ads.
There are a lot of uneducated college graduates and young people out there... I guess at least 18% of the people are uneducated.
if Mitch doesn’t get 50% of the vote Bevin will get 2 more months to make his case... If a run off is required, it will be held in July.
I doubt the other 3 GOP candidates will garner enough votes among the 3 of them to force a run-off. It would be great if they did.
If only conservatives could muster the same enthusiasm for defeating DEMOCRATS, as they do defeating fellow Republicans. Talking about cutting off your nose to spite your face.
This attitude and action gave the Dems the Senate in the first place... choosing candidates unelectable in the general election, giving the Dems an easy win.
I just did a Google Search and it says there are 5 Candidates in the KY GOP Primary today; Bevin, The Bitch and 3 others. one could have dropped out and there might just be four, but, Google says FIVE.
You should keep up with the news:
Kentucky Senate candidate Matt Bevin caught backing cockfighting
It was a dumb thing — I don’t hold this per se against him, but if he is this naïve, if he were to win in the primary, the Dems would eat him alive and Mitch’s seat would be easily captured by the Dem. Great conservative accomplishment. (/sarc)
Whoever said something like “Those who won’t learn from history, are condemned to repeat it”
Sen. Richard Lugar defeated by tea party challenger
Conservative rival Richard Mourdock easily wins Indianas Republican Senate primary over the 35-year incumbent. He will face Democratic Rep. Joe Donnelly in the general election.
Joe Donnelly upsets Richard Mourdock in Indiana
Democratic Rep. Joe Donnelly pulled off a stunning upset over Republican Richard Mourdock in the Indiana Senate race a battle that the GOP thought was a sure win until the final days of the campaign.
Dang.... 15% that early in the morning??? If so, it’s gonna be a heavy turnout in PA today.
But, Matt Bevin has made some serious gaffes..... Why are most of our candidates always so freakin’ stupid?
The “Devil we know” is what y’all have,
Predictable and rotten to the core.
Why to choose to reward
The crook in the horde
When a new horse
Is chomping at the bit?
If Bitch gets under 50 percent, I'm guessing he'll push blanket amnesty in the Senate in revenge.
Do you not just want to put your hands on that snarky little brat Dewhurst runs in his attack ads against Patrick?
Why, yes, we know how trustworthy MSNBS is. *wink-wink*
Mourdock and Akin could have won their races if they had just said, “of course abortion should be legal in the cases of rape and incest,” instead of rambling on with warped views of female biology or paeans to considering children of rape as blessings from God.*
*All children are a blessing, of course, but that doesn’t win the dingbat vote.
So if people are pissed at Mitch but dont like Bevin either because of Mitchs smear campaign, they can still vent.
But, Matt Bevin has made some serious gaffes..... Why are most of our candidates always so freakin stupid?
LOL....geez, like Midge hasn’t? I’ll take Matt’s gaffes over Midge’s backstabbing RINO ways.
I knew about the Cock Fighting thing so keep your condescending remarks to yourself. What I was getting at was, where did Carl Cameron ever get it that Matt Bevin endorses “DOG FIGHTING”?
I dont think we had 18% undecided, either. Thats a big plus for Bevin.
Exactly! Rule of Thumb: 80 percent of Undecideds usually go for the challenger. If a person is undecided on whether or not to vote for a 30 year incumbent, it is highly unlikely that the the incumbent will get that vote.
I posted this yesterday, but it applies to today too.
I just made a trip from my place to Somerset in Kentucky. About a hundred miles round trip or so. Two different ways were taken, all of them on the back roads.
I saw numerous Bevin yard signs and amazingly not one, NOT ONE, McConnell yard sign.
On the other hand I and my friends and neighbors have been receiving I support Mitch robo-calls unceasingly for the last five days. Personally I let the answering machine get them and if the Robo-calls starts blasting away, I answer and hang-up immediately.
One of my wifes friends received 21 call this weekend and called the local McConnell office to complain and tell them to stop the Harassment!
So my own entirely unofficial position is that McConnell is really running scared. He is spending his campaign cash like it was government money in direct, personal campaigning with directed mail flyers and these G.D. irritating phone calls. And I hope he loses and loses big! For five years and six months he ignores his home state every term he has been in the Senate and only pays attention when its campaign season.
Its time to give McConnell a long-over due retirement.
Now today, when I went to vote, which for me is almost a thirty minute drive across the county, I saw Zip, zero, nada Mitch McConnell signs. On the other hand I saw numerous Bevin Signs and two Ditch Mitch signs.
Voting was steady here in my rural county. Someone showing up every five minutes or so and my local poll workers knew my by sight, I still showed my drivers licence as well as my voters card. Five minutes later after filling out the PAPER ballot and scanning, found me on my way back home to the farm and work here.
As much as I hate to say it, Louisville and Lexington will decide the vote as usual. The cities just plain outnumber those of us out here in the Rural counties.
Which part of that statement do you disagree with?
Personally, I 100% agree with Matt. If the people of Kentucky, or Louisiana want to fight dogs or roosters, it should be up to THEM to decide... NOT the Federal government.
Mitch is the most mammoth caver to ever stumble around the Senate.
I just voted, and yes.. there were FIVE candidates on the ballot.
I saw more than 100 Bevin signs on my way. Zero McConnell. Turnout seemed fairly good, for a primary. At 1 pm, I was in a line of 5-6 people to get a ballot.
I did my part, I voted today after spending several hours at the phone center making call for him.
How were you received in general?
My wife and I have voted! +2 for Matt.
The reality I see coming is 15 percent for the whole day since only 25 had voted by my time around 9 this morning at a place with 1600 registered voters. At 7am opening time for the presidential one in 2012 I was 50th in the line.
Unfortunately, there are no run offs in Kentucky elections. And it’s a sad day for Kentucky when the Senate Minority Traitor wins with the percentage he is tonight. Let’s just hope he grows some balls (or borrows his wife’s) and gives half as much of a fight to Harry Reid as he does to the Tea Party.
