Skip to comments.Yep, Nevada is officially dropping their state ObamaCare exchange, too

After much apparent pleading from the contractor, Nevada made the decision to drop their individual ObamaCare website builder Xerox and is now the next state hitching its wagon to the federal online exchange. It all looked like it could have gone so well back in October, until users started trying to actually sign up for health insurance and began to uncover the more than 1,500 defects embedded in the site, according to a report from Deloitte last month, and the Silver State has finally realized that the situation cannot be salvaged any time soon — and certainly not in time for this year’s open enrollment period. Via the Las Vegas Review-Journal:
The board of the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange voted this morning to dump the contractor that botched the building of its Nevada Health Link website, and to move partly into the federal system for at least the next year.
The move would let the state exchange keep its autonomy and its member-based funding, and to allow the marketplace to switch to an operational website from another state for its 2016 enrollment period.
The change to a new system could cost as much as $57 million in addition to the $72 million contract the exchange already had with Xerox. But exchange officials said theyve already applied for federal grants to cover the cost. Plus, the cost of buying another system may drop considerably by the time the exchange is ready to go forward in late 2015, state officials said.
The boards decision ends a troubled, two-year relationship with Xerox, which fell woefully behind schedule on its Nevada Health Link build. The system debuted on Oct. 1 to hundreds of technical flaws and software glitches, and sign-ups have been held to about a third of the initial enrollment target of 118,000.
The board had been considering a number of options, including bringing in a third-party manager to work with Xerox, transferring to another state’s functioning system, or moving to the federal exchange permanently, but they ultimately landed on the above — and in all of their forethought, they have “already applied for federal grants” to cover the potential $57 million in added costs. …How lucky.
Why are none of the criminals (the contractors and the politically connected bureaucrats who oversaw it) in front of a prosecutor on their way to jail? Is there no justice? Where did all of the money go?
This the third or fourth to drop it not including the states that rejected it completely?
So the people of Nevada lost 72 Million and now they are going to beg $57 Million from the rest of us.
The term, “federal grants” is the commie lib way of saying, U.S. taxpayer dollars.
One by one, the state exchanges are dropping like flies.
Massachusetts’ crippled Obamacare exchange is just the latest to throw in the towel and scrap its existing software.
Oregon just dropped theirs. So did Maryland.
Now we have Nevada. I’m betting Hawaii is next (I’ve been hearing nothing but complaints from there ).
Minnesota might also bail out.
In principle contractors everywhere should have refused this impossible task. At both state and Federal level.
These states dropping their exchanges simply could part of a larger money laundering democrat scheme....
None seem to work very well and nobody is held accountable....
What better way than to build something that doesn’t work and get paid....
Sorry you paid 75 million and no refund....I wonder who’s getting a cut...
Who knows where the money trail ends....certainly in a democrat pocket....
Gee, I guess those big bad conservative states that refused to build their own exchanges were ahead of the curve, nah can’t be, just a coincidence.
What is the “law” as passed say regarding subsidies? Is it only through state exchanges or the fed exchange?
Seek, when the states drop their exchange, what happens then?
Do they transfer everyone over to the Fed website?
Is that the plan?
Can you imagine the hundreds of millions of dollars being wasted in this Obamacare debacle? We could have easily insured the millions who were not insured before O-care.
Now look. The red states were right. A whole bunch of states aren't capable and are doing what red states did in the first place.
OBAMA’S GAME PLAN WORKING TO PERFECTION. This is community organizing at its best. If you read Alinsky this is what is expected. Obama was an Alinskyite through and through.
RE: Do they transfer everyone over to the Fed website?

I believe the answer is ‘Yes’.
Thanks. Single payer has been their dream since Hillary came on the healthcare scene twenty years ago.
“Where did all of the money go?”
2014 and 2016 Democrat campaign coffers, of course.
And exactly as predicted it would, after being filtered through a couple of levels of Democrat Cronies, with each one taking a cut for themselves.
