Add another one to the list of candidates who have the right positions but make stupid, bonehead mistakes on the campaign trail (e.g., Mourdock, Akin, O'Donnell, Angle, ...). It's not enough to be right in politics, you also have to be smart and not make stupid mistakes, because the media will tear a conservative to shreds with it.

I agree, be honest, have no problems in your past, and be truthful when running for office. Damn, that would eliminate about 95% of candidates! What does that tell us - maybe that the wrong candidates are running for office?

When we finally get down to farmers and machinists running then we can get down to facts. We have long given in to those who are running for political office as if they are decent folks instead of questioning them and looking into their past...geez.
