Same-Sex Marriage Support Reaches New High at 55% (Gallup)
Gallup ^ | May 21, 2014 | Justin McCarthy

Americans' support for the law recognizing same-sex marriages as legally valid has increased yet again, now at 55%. Marriage equality advocates have had a string of legal successes over the past year, most recently this week in Pennsylvania and Oregon where federal judges struck down bans on gay marriage. Two successive Gallup polls in 2012 saw support climb from 53% to 54%, indicating a steady but slight growth in acceptance of gay marriages over the past year after a more rapid increase between 2009 and 2011. In the latest May 8-11 poll, there is further evidence that support for gay marriage has solidified above the majority level. This comes on the heels of gay marriage proponents' 14th legal victory in a row.

If the Catholic Church had pushed back against the radical libertine agenda starting about fifty years ago, things might look different.

If the support for it is so high, then why does it typically lose at the ballot box? Why must it be imposed by judicial fiat? 55% is very doubtful.

There is no such law.

Virtually all the laws passed specifically outlaw this.

What is happening is that the Judgeocracy is in full rebellion against the populace by nullifying their laws.

Impeach the Judges as Iowa did. Keep doing it until all the power abusers have been replaced.

That's the truth. The ballot box is the only poll that matters. And they have lost over and over in that poll.

Judges are the only thing that matters, the ballot box is irrelevant.

Maybe Federal Judges feel that way, but in Iowa, as in all States, the Judges are accountable to the electorate.

Then comes an all-out revolt.

I cannot buy into that proposition. America is half-asleep on the couch watching porn or sports. We should have had an uprising way before NOW. And to think that lying bastard was elected a second time after the entire world watching him bluster his buffoonish way through the first four years shows you what power the media have over all our lives.

Yep. All of the TV news coverage was literally beaming about how Pennsylvania had suddenly become "enlightened". When in truth what happened is that one Federal Judge took it upon himself to toss out the will of the majority.

As a side note to the integrity of Gallup poll results, please bear in mind that we’ll probably never see Gallup, or any other pollster, ask people if they know about the federal government’s constitutionally limited powers, or about constitutionally enumerated rights.

Some of these results might reflect a state of moral ambiguity, in which a person says “homosexuality is not for me, but who am I to judge those who are inclined towards it?” From there, it’s a fairly easy slide (down a slippery slope) to acceptance of gay marriage as a sort of civil union with nicer ambience. That sort of opinion can be held by a substantial portion of the population who are not inclined to deep or perhaps even any moral analysis, just the superficial aspects.

Taken in tandem with the growing tendency of the younger population to enter adult life fully brainwashed by the widespread media-driven notion that gay is cool, and the steady attrition of older respondents, an upward trend in the numbers seems inevitable to me.

The only thing that would reverse such a trend would be a deep-rooted religious revival whether or not allied with a rethinking of modern sociological trends in professional circles. Well, of course, there is also the prospect of an external correction by the Creator.

Speaking from Canada where the acceptance of already legalized same sex marriage appears to be closer to 65%, the challenge now is to hold on to core values and beliefs and find the most effective ways of representing them. We are finding that lawfare is being used against opponents of same sex marriage but to defuse the confrontation, some other issue is being advanced as the reason for the lawfare. With our liberal activist judiciary culture, we are finding it tough going up here and could use your support and prayers. You don’t want to go where we have been heading, and that despite the fact that your federal government is currently to the left of ours (an unusual situation in recent times).

I find it disturbing that many of the religious leaders who could be speaking out forcefully are conspicuously silent or even ambiguously supportive of these self-evidently demonic trends. They may have been seduced into silence by this ridiculous distortion of the gospel from “forgive the sinner” to “embrace the sin.” These are not the same concepts in Christian theology and Jesus only preached the first of the two. Modern antichrist voices are preaching the second and with considerable success as we can see.

It's all in the wording of the question.

Back in 1996 and only 27% favored gay marriage the question read "Do you think marriages between homosexuals should be legal?"

Now, the question in worded much more softly to the point to where there could be confusion."

The question should read:

Are you willing to stand-up against Biblical Law and for what is evil and destructive to Christian society and ultimately face the consequences on Judgement Day and support marriage based on Sodomy?"

Their poll numbers would then be quite different.

That’s why you should look at actual votes on the issue and not what one stranger tells another over the phone about what they think of ‘gay marriage.’ It’s still bad, CA lost 9% on the issue in 8 years, between 2000 and 2008. They only passed prop. 8 by 52% in 2008, they passed prop. 22 by 61%. 2012 NC was where 2000 CA was, but was hailed as a great victory by many. Not good trends, and you can see it from actual votes.

From what I understand the difference is largely generational. Over 65 people are 70% opposed. Under 30 are 80% in favor. Short term the older crowd votes more so it is good, long term the nation needs revival.
