Progressives Today has learned, and confirmed from sources very close to the story, that Good Morning America was planning a segment on James Okeefes latest sting video And that Good Morning America killed the story. Their lawyers stepped in and killed it.
Progressives Today spoke with GMA producers today who declined to comment on the story.
News broke yesterday on the Hollywood Reporter website of Okeefes latest project, a sting operation designed to expose the corrupt and collaborative world of A-list Hollywood stars, producers, and Progressive NGOs and non-profits like MoveOn.org that effectively make up a Hollywood environmental lobby.
In this case, OKeefes investigtors offered this Hollywood environmental lobby millions of dollars from a fictional oil sheik to produce an anti-fracking movie.
James tapes expose actors Ed Begley Jr and Mureil Hemmingway as willing to lend their names and social media brands to the fictional project even though they knew the money was coming from Arab oil sheiks whos gaol was to keep America dependent on foreign oil.
More embarrassing still is where the recorded meeting took place. The actors, producers, and fake Arab oil sheik met at the Beverly Hills Hotel, owned by the Sultan of Brunei. The property is currently being boycotted by another arm of the Hollywood left because of the Sultans support for anti gay and anti woman policies enshrined in Sharia law.
Hemmingway and Begley Jr. sure are willing to get their hands dirty for the environment. Will this dirt rub off? Stay tuned
But for some reason Good Morning America did not find the story fit for its audience.
Undoubtedly it went badly for the Party machinery.
ping
Maybe babwa wawa can do a special on it
Oh wait, she retired huh?
Not the stench of the left tho
Ya gotta love this guy! lol
Who in their right mind would PAY to go to journalism school today?
That would be like paying top dollar to a flight school where you do crossword puzzles, and never touch on the topic of flying.
The most important journalists these days NEVER went to a J-school even for ONE day.
Probably threatened by Hollywood lawyers with a lawsuit for re-publishing an “illegally obtained” video/recording.
Between CommunistNN calling for jail for CLIMATE CHANGE! Deniers and this...Well.
The more they squeal the more people hear about it!
Lavely & Singer maybe?:

I’m shocked GMA would consider covering it in the first place. They don’t do much news on that show. It’s basically smiles and the occasional weather situation.
The legal reason: California is a 2-party recording state. All parties have to consent to recording. ABC could become liable for distributing it further.
I think there are exceptions, if someone is is breaking the law. But, I think you'd be hard-pressed to claim Begley and Hemingway were breaking any law.
Yes, the similarity to Donald Sterling's case is striking, but my understanding is he was aware he was being recorded. I don't know what the law says about unauthorized disclosure, though.
Of course, the real reason for spiking this story is the disclosure doesn't fit their agenda. If it had been exposing someone on the other side of the political spectrum, the lawyers would have claimed they were "serving the public interest".
The story was on Kelly’s file tues evening. Kelly said Hemm looked good...
I give Ed Begley Jr a little credit because he’s a environmental activist who walks the walk, not like his fellow libs who just play lib service to the cause.(half credit because he may be just a cheapskate and hasn’t broke into the really big Hollywood bucks)
Mureil Hemmingway is just a aging tart living off her dead grandfather’s fame....
LOL But it was OK to play Sterling’s illegal recording over and over and over! lol Well, not really. Pretty sad day for wannabe urinalists.
Does anybody remember Abscam from the late ‘70’s?
Something like 6 Congressmen, a Senator and other politicians were convicted of bribery and conspiracy in an FBI sting.
The FBI agents posed as reps of a wealthy oil sheik doling out cash for political favors. I believe only one politician (a republican senator?) flat out refused and reported the bribe to the FBI.
That’s when I began to believe that Saudi oil money was funding all of these “Green” initiatives.
Hemmingway and Begley Jr. sure are willing to get their hands dirty for the environment. Will this dirt rub off? Stay tuned
This one's great - with MORE to come...
“The legal reason: California is a 2-party recording state. All parties have to consent to recording. ABC could become liable for distributing it further.”
The statute is about evesdropping, not precisely aimed at a conversation where a participant is doing the recording , although its been interpreted that way by the courts.
I did see that there is a limitation, that if you’re recording someone without their knowledge in a public or semi-public place like a street or restaurant, the person whom you’re recording may or may not have “an objectively reasonable expectation that no one is listening in or overhearing the conversation,” and the reasonableness of the expectation would depend on the particular factual circumstances.
So - O’Keefe has an argument that the restaurant setting nullifies the privacy expectation.
