Shinseki was fired for insisting we needed 350,000 troops to do in right in Iraq. I think that Bush went in with about 170,000 in March 2003. In January 2003 I had asked my son, who was in Gulf War I from Aug. 1990 to April 1991 with the 82nd Airborne, how many he thought would be needed. He said 450,000. After a year there trying to pull the Bush/Cheney chestnuts out of the fire Brimmer (sp?) said there should have been 500,000. {My son is currently in Special Forces.]
Bush had to start in March or April or the hot weather would have made conditions for combat very bad. He couldn’t ignore VP Cheney, or Halliburton would not have made a pile. He couldn’t wait for the following spring because that would have impacted the fall 2004 elections in a negative way. Perhaps Bush is embarassed that he had to ignore Sinseki for political expediency.
If this empty suit occupying the White House spent a smidgen of the time he spends on spreading gayness around the globe that he should with the Veterans, he’d be a whole lot more credible. No, he’s nothing but a lying, corrupt bum who is responsible for this scandal!
Does anyone have the figures on the VA budget versus new people coming in—either retired aging veterans, or young veterans with more recent war related conditions?
So far he has started a racial divide with his attorney general leading he charge.

Cut the moral of the military and its strength in countless ways.

Probably lost all we gained in tamping down Afghanistan.
Ruined the credibility of IRS, NASA, NSA, Secret Service, the CIA, the State Department.

I heard somewhere that the VA budget has tripled over the last 13 years but the number of veterans has decreased. I believe the number being treated has increased. Partly because of older vets losing their insurance or not be able to afford the premiums.
It is a lot like volleyball. One player pops the ball over near the net, another spikes it.
