I am a diehard Texas Tea Party conservative and have the flags and guns to prove it... I did not and will not vote for John Coryn now or in the future...
I’m expecting Dan Patrick to upset “Dirty” Dewhurst for TX Lieutenant Governor, setting him up perfectly to defeat John Cornyn’s next re-election bid for US Senator.
My household has cast its last votes for Cornyn.
That answer is “no”
Amen from Austin there, CenTex!
It’s easy as ABC......
Anybody But Cornyn!
He’s half right. I’m not Republican, but I am conservative. Cornyn is one of the Republicans who may just be able to keep Republicans from getting a majority in a wave election, by making those who would create that wave disinterested. It is not conservative to vote for liberal Republican establishment; at best it is a strategy. The strategy is this: prevent Democrats from advancing marxism by electing people who will not advance it, in hopes that eventually, we will elect people who will begin moving in the other direction. However, that strategy is no longer working. The GOPe does move in the marxist direction now, it i not content to simply hold the line. And, there is never going to be a day when we move in the other direction, if we work within a party controlled by the GOPe. It’s time for a new strategy.
“..Anyone who calls themselves Conservative or Republican, who doesnt vote for the nominee of the party in the general election is neither. ...”
My answer to Cornyn: “Anyone Republican who promotes “reaching across the aisle”, “working in bipartisan fashion”, and calls the Democrats “my colleagues across the aisle” and does anything remotely beneficial to their agenda ISN’T a Republican, nor an American, and needs to be thrown out of office at the first opportunity.”
Pretty simple.
Can Cornyn unite me with his friends the Democrats? No.
I doubt Cornyn berated John Warner when he endorsed the DEMOCRAT in Virginia for reelection this year. And I also doubt that he berated Richard Lugar, who endorsed Michelle Nunn, the DEMOCRAT candidate in Georgia.
To conservatvies, the lesser of two evils is a moderate republican.
To a moderate republican, the lesser of two evils is the democrat.
Do whatever it costs to keep conservatives from office, especially out of the US Senate! That’s their view.
I am of the opinion that conservatives should work for a Republican majority while also getting rid of the worst of the GOPe pretend conservatives. That list is pretty long, and the two goals are mutually exclusive. I therefore think we should pick two or three GOPe's that are in very conservative states, and work for their defeats. McConnell is one of those who should be defeated, as a reminder to the Roves of the party, and because his defeat would open up the leadership position to Ted Cruz or Mike Lee. They might not get it, but could at least force a compromise on someone a little more acceptable.
I realize that such a strategy makes it possible that Republicans will not get a majority in the Senate. If they were led by conservatives, and had a strategy to defeat Obamaa's attack on America, like Newt did, they could get 55-60. But they don't, and they might still get 51-55 seats. I am willing to take the risk that giving away seats in KY, SC and Texas might prevent the majority. But a majority led by McConnell is no better than one led by Harry Reid. McConnell as already shown that he will give Obama all he wants, if Obama just hints he might shut down the government. McConnell will steamroll the Senate into amnesty, will keep Obamacare intact, and will acquiesce to all of Obama's social agenda.
I expect McConnell to be nervous about conservatives getting rid of him via Grimes, but I didn’t think Cornyn was worried about this.
Problem is, we can only afford to ditch one RINO senator this go-round, I’d rather it be Turtle than Cornyn... and TX can’t give the RATS even a tiny foothold, otherwise I’d vote for Cornyn’s rat opponent.
Hope you aren’t referring to DoWorst for Senate in 2020.
After Patrick thumps Mr. Muddy, let’s hope we have seen the last of DoWorst.
Loyalty is a one-way street for the RINOs and the Establishment. They own the party, they are entitled, we owe them our vote. Then they are free to do anything they want to screw over GOP voters. It’s great!
Do you remember if there is an independent running for TX Senate in Nov?
Not that I know of.
