Climate change to result in less nutritional food, report says
Los Angeles Times ^ | May 22, 2014 | by EVAN HALPER

Climate change threatens to undermine not only how much food can be grown but also the quality of that food as altered weather patterns lead to a less desirable harvest, according to a new study.

Crops grown by many of the nation's farmers have a lower nutritional content than they once did, according to the report by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.

Research indicates that higher carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere have reduced the protein content in wheat.

Now, are they worried about that when their prescriptions to reduce global warming would result in less nutritious food in lesser amounts? You do away with modern agriculture that’s what you get.

What a load of road apples. If there's any crisis in food it comes from the organic agenda, the sustainability agenda, the progressive environmental agenda and the rules, regulations and taxes imposed on farmers.

I guess this is their response to carbon dioxide being plant food.

I doubt seriously that carbon dioxide is responsible for either wheat or rice being less nutritious.

But soil depletion of nutrients can be a factor. So let’s fertilize to compensate.

“Plants and animal breeds will need to be developed to better withstand climate stresses such as higher temperatures and weather variability,”

Human beings have been doing just that since they first started farming and domesticating animals. Yes, even before Al Gore invented the internet and subsequently discovered Glowbull warming.

Climate change threatens to undermine....

....according to a new study.

...by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.

..consequences of inaction could be severe.

The council has been examining the effects of climate change on food for several months as part of a project chaired by former Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman and former Rep. Doug Bereuter (R-Neb.)

Some agricultural industries are shifting north in search of cooler temperatures,

“Plants and animal breeds will need to be developed to better withstand climate stresses such as higher temperatures and weather variability,” it said.

This is their first step in confiscating food. When I was unfortunate enough to live in the fascist city of New york, Despot Mike Bloomberg started a campaign declaring food donated to the homeless was not nutritious, because as you know, Wall street billionaires are nutrition experts. He then went ahead and confiscated food donated to the homeless because obviously it is more healthy to starve.

Can they name one? It would be a stupid move since there has been no warming in the last 17+ years.

Shifting north ? Shifting what ? their operations or their perspective ?

The cooler temperatures are finding them.

I like to garden, especially vegetable gardening,

There are many plants which like warmer temperatures. I would love a chance to grow these plants, but I live in New England and it is too cold. In fact, it’s colder here than it’s been in 103 year!!!

And carbon is making my greens so much greener. How is that bad??

The Chicago Council on Global Affairs, founded in 1922 as The Chicago Council on Foreign Relations, is an independent, nonpartisan organization committed to influencing the discourse on global issues through contributions to opinion and policy formation, leadership dialogue, and public learning.

The Chicago Council hosts public programs and private events featuring world leaders and experts with views on global topics. The council runs task forces, conferences, studies, and leadership dialogue.

Activities[edit]
The council provides its members, policymakers, and the general public with a forum for the consideration of international issues and their bearing on American public policy. It organizes more than 150 meetings each year, including lectures, seminars, conferences, and a travel program, and hosts policymakers and foreign experts from around the world.

The council produces publications, including a biennial public opinion survey, and reports generated by task forces convened to study a specific issue. Recent task force topics have included:

“Engaging China and India: An Economic Agenda for Japan and the United States”
“Modernizing America’s Farm and Food Policy: Vision for a New Direction”
“A Shared Future: The Economic Engagement of Greater Chicago and Its Mexican Community”
Global Cities Index: Foreign Policy magazine, global management consulting firm A.T. Kearney and The Chicago Council on Global Affairs published the inaugural Global Cities Index in October 2008. The index is a ranking of the ways in which cities are integrating with the rest of the world. The Global Cities Index ranks cities’ metro areas according to 24 parameters across five dimensions - business activity, human capital, information exchange, cultural experience, and political engagement[7]
Michelle Obama was listed as a director on the Chicago Council website until her husband started gaining more attention during the 2008 Democratic nomination race.

History[edit]
The Chicago Council on Global Affairs was founded as the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations on February 20, 1922. At its inception, the council included 23 members with the purpose of opposing what they viewed as U.S. isolationism during the first World War. Ivo Daalder has served as President of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs since July, 2013.

Simple suggestion to fix climate globull warming which gets under the skin of liberals.

“Let’s build 100 desalination plants in Africa and run infrastructure to get water throughout the continent. With that water, crops can be planted to provide an abundance of food to the continent and beyond. In addition, all those plants will suck up the CO2, decreasing global warming. “

“Our mitigation plan if we cool too much is to strategically plant less crops”

What gets must liberal friends when I suggest this is that the Africans wouldn’t know how to do any of this.

Good grief. What a strange religion “climate change/global warming” is. Truly, truly it takes more faith to believe in it than simply believing God exists and gave his only Son...wow.

So, plants love CO2, and that said, more plants means more veggies, which means healthier food. Hmm. I’m to believe the opposite.
