TRENTON — Nondescript minivans pulled up like clockwork outside Newark’s homeless shelters, and the drivers offered a deal few desperate people would turn down: a free health checkup and a guaranteed prescription for painkillers, which can fetch as much as $100 per pill on the street. They were bused 10 miles away, authorities said, to a rundown strip mall in Passaic where the deal went down. A doctor offered a quick, often bogus exam before writing scripts for OxyContin or oxycodone. As a special thank you, he threw in a $10 gift card. His patients could take the drugs or sell them on the black market. The doctor didn’t care; he got paid by Medicaid either way. And so did his business partners in the Russian mafia. The operation was a centerpiece of a new report issued today by the State Commission of Investigation, which found dirty doctors, shady entrepreneurs and organized crime are helping fuel the rapid rise of prescription drug and heroin abuse in New Jersey. "There is a new and more sophisticated type of drug corner," Patrick Hobbs, chairman of the commission, said today. "It’s indoors, it has a waiting room, maybe a nurse, and the person doing a deal wears a white coat and hides behind the shield of a medical license." The report, "Scenes From An Epidemic," is the product of a two-year SCI investigation examining who is rprofiting off the growth of prescription painkiller addictions in New Jersey, and how addicts eventually turn to a far less costly choice for getting high: heroin. Unlike drugs mostly found in inner cities, the report said, prescription drug and heroin abuse are now pervasive in nearly every community and particularly afflict affluent people ages 18 to 25.

Because the politicians are all bought off.

And don’t think the fact that we are still in Afghanistan doesn’t have anything to do with it....We are only there now to protect the poppy fields.

That includes Christie I suppose. And I've heard that about Afghanistan before - for this our soldiers have been killed and maimed?

Afghanistan is vast. They would do just fine poppy-wise if the US wasn’t there.

Christie is a RINO. So was Bloomberg. Pretty sure both parties are corrupt.

Why isn’t anyone complaining about Soros, the cartels, the drugs, the everything.

With a few exceptions such as Cruz, Rubio, ..a couple others, they are all for sale.

Actually they weren’t as prosperous before we got there, and today they have record level production. It seems the cartels are the only ones living the American dream these days.

Sounds like something that would happen in Western Europe.

I’m the gal. If it was about the Russian Mafia? yes.

This article is for you. I have a hard time believing my American govvernment is as corrupt as the rest of them, but we are. We are a Narco Nation. A nation who’s government has been bought and corrupted by organized criminals.

I don’t like it, but I prefer reality to deception. The truth shall set us free.

I don't know why you'd say that. The FDA and DEA have been conducting sting operations all over New Jersey in the last few years. Doctors and pharmacists are being prosecuted for this all the time.

One of the doctors who was bagged in a Morris County town a couple of years ago was a member of the town council, and the team doctor for the high school sports teams.

And this is just Medicaid. Wait till Obamacommiecare gets going, every criminal gang in the world is going to treat the US as their own personal unlimited ATM. There was a story a few months ago near where I live where a podiatrist charged a woman $240,000 for a foot massage and they actually paid it. How did the public find out? Because they accidentally sent the check to the patient who called Medicaid to complain that they were getting ripped off and so far they haven’t done shet. That’s the kind of stuff I like to think of when I see how much the Feds and the state steals from my paycheck every week.

They might be getting a whole lot of druggy-types (I would believe it) ... but the problem is that the government and DEA has gone after doctors who prescribe some of these needed drugs to people who are medically deserving — thus cutting off these people who have legitimate medical problems.

SO ... you’re also going to get these people who can establish a real medical need, going to these guys ... because the DEA is intimidating all the doctors in the country.

New Jersey has moved on from Prescription drugs to heroin for several years already. Why don’t they go after the mafia’s?

I grew up up Miami in the 80’s and 90’s. Drug seizures were nightly news. Drugs were confiscated before getting into the country. The DEA was in Colombia burning fields. They were in Peru taking down Major cartels. The money launderers, including bankers, were being jailed.

Today Venezuela is the biggest illegal drug distributor in the world and they are never mentioned. Australia is the only nation intercepting heroin shipments from Africa. Killer weed is coming in from China, and the warnings are inaudible. The FED today can record every conversation and keystroke in the world, and doesn’t consider tracing the shipment from China? Kids were told to just “Say No”. Today they get the message that it is medicinal, and should all be legal.

In the 80’s we knew where the drugs were coming from, and there really was a war on drugs. Because of that, cocaine was too expensive for curious kids. I never saw heroin in my life. It doesn’t originate in South America. Today heroin is cheaper and easier to get than a pack of beer.

Nobody seems to question the record level poppy production in Afghanistan, the world’s largest heroin supplier today, under NATO’s watch.

The war on drugs being a “failure” is a Soros campaign. Americans are being duped like children. Except, same scenario of hoax drug legalization pretending to be a citizens initiative is being played out in Western Nations around the world.

The drug legalization campaign should be a case study in social engineering. It was planned for a long time, and the plan always included heroin. This 2004 article is prophetic:

http://www.aim.org/special-report/the-hidden-soros-agenda-drugs-money-the-media-and-political-power

How does it make sense to anyone that we had a opiate epidemic with “legal” prescription drugs, therefore “legalalize” more drugs except now for recreational use?

Because we are being brainwashed.
