Tennessee has decided to bring back the electric chair.

Republican Gov. Bill Haslam on Thursday signed a bill into law allowing the state to electrocute death row inmates in the event the state is unable to obtain drugs used for lethal injections. […]

Richard Dieter, the executive director of the Death Penalty Information Center, said Tennessee is the first state to enact a law to reintroduce the electric chair without giving prisoners an option. …

I have no idea how my dentist and my doctor have knocked me out where one moment I was alert and they were talking to me and the next moment was an hour or two later and I had zero idea what had transpired.

But, it didn’t hurt even a little. It wasn’t disturbing even a little. It was a simple “I was out of it, knocked out cold.”

Do that. And then off them. I don’t even think they’ll know they’re gone.

I wish we would just lock them in an airtight room with a mattress and slowly replace the oxygen with some noble gas.

They seem to be trying all sorts of things, but I'm not sure that they've ever improved upon the Zyklon B pellets that were used by the Germans. Death is almost instantaneous for many and death is always a certainty. And, with gas, there is no need to get doctors involved in the procedure.

I think the Guillotine is more humane.

So do I.
It sure is quicker.

Wish that I was on ole Rocky Top
Down in the Tennessee Hills.
There’s some smoggy smoke on Rocky Top,
It’s from an electric chair.

Just do it with explosives and hose out the chamber afterwards.

Oklahoma may go that way too.
And they play ‘Boomer Sooner’ ‘cause the words are easy to remember and the person strapped-in can throw the switch himself.
The Okie chair will be a recliner with vibration, heat and, of course, high-voltage.

I personally would like them to bring back public hangings.

The original idea was that it was supposed to be more humane than hanging. That was in the days when electricity was still quasi-magical, but despite the rather spectacular physiological effects, it isn't obvious that it's less humane. Certainly no one who has ever undergone it has complained.

Your link mentions an attempt to replace it with the guillotine, not due to any less unpleasantness for either the onlookers or the star of the show, but to assist in organ harvesting. That has a ghoulish aspect all its own but it does, after all, allow the guilty to pay a debt to society that he/she wouldn't be able to do otherwise.

I am not inclined to believe that there is a means of execution that is foolproof and "humane", even nitrogen asphyxiation, which is probably as close as it can get. A bullet to the back of the head is probably close. That, however, is quite as messy as Old Sparky.

At least Tennessee has figured out what all the PC nonsense is doing to our nation . . . but don’t be too surprised if a libtard judge declares the whole mess unconstitutional.

I hope it goes to the Supreme Court, and then we can start manufacturing ol’ Sparky’s across the nation . . . and send the electric bills to the family of the condemned . . . have to pay for it somehow.

Ropes really are cheaper though, and we saw that they work real good with ol’ Saddam Hussein.

Then just stick ‘em in a tub of water and drop in a plugged-in toaster.

I'm with you. Complete with hymn singing before the trap door is sprung. You get a threefer:
  1. Public participation in an object lesson.
  2. Putting the condemned in a frame of mind to meet their maker.
  3. P*ssing off the ACLU.

What's not to like?

To make this decision more palatable to the Left, tell them the Electric Chair is powered by Wind and Solar in honor of Tennessee’s favorite Son, Albert Gore Jr.

Yes, it’s electrifying news posted on a current events thread. I don’t think that there will be much resistance to it here though.

When will they bring back the hangman’s noose or the fire squad?
